Wow. What a very disappointing and unhappy visit to P&P HOUSE in Xindian. First of all, our table was on the 2nd floor. We came with a baby so also had bags and a pram/stroller with us. The staff DID NOT offer to help take anything up the stairs for us. Second, we were seated next to another table of guests. The restaurant was empty but they seated us next to another full table of people. You would think the staff would care about their guests comfort, but no, they obviously have a system that's best for the staff rather than what is good for their customers. Third, menus were already on the table so we picked them up and looked through them to decide what to eat. After a little time we were ready to order. However, when the waitress came we were told both of the pastas we wanted were not available. Why didn't they tell us that at the beginning!?! Fourth, I decided to choose a pizza, but was told that pizza isn't available. We then asked the waitress just to tell us all the things that aren't available so we can choose something to eat. We both then ended up choosing the same pasta because there wasn't much choice. Fifth, the waitress came back 7 minutes later to tell us that AGAIN the pasta we ordered that they said WAS available was now NOT available, so we needed to get the menus again to choose something else. Sixth, the tea we ordered came in a tiny IKEA cup that, besides being very small, isn't the easiest to hold when you're holding a very hot drink. Seventh, the waitress never came to refill our water. Maybe 1 jug of water per table is the limit? Eighth, when we went downstairs to pay the bill, again the staff didn't offer any help. Ninth, when we arrived at the counter to pay the bill the first thing the lady there said was "$725". She didn't ask "Did you enjoy your meal?" or anything friendly and polite like that. She just demanded money. Tenth, the bill showed an additional 10% SERVICE CHARGE. WHAT!? Exactly WHAT SERVICE DID YOUR STAFF PROVIDE?!?! Other Italian restaurants nearby provide MUCH BETTER SERVICE and they don't charge 10% for it. Perhaps the owner of P&P HOUSE can help answer this question. Allen, what service does your restaurant provide that makes sense to charge 10% more than other restaurants?? So, overall, a pretty unpleasant experience...
Read moreA while ago I have been with my friend in Taipei. One day we had appetite for something different from the local food. We discovered P&P House near the Red House in the Ximending area. The entrance was quite small and narrow stairs led into the room. The interior was designed interesting and gave a good atmosphere. By chance we got a free table. Since the restaurant was quite small and there were not so many tables available, we were pretty lucky. The selection on the menu was not very large and the prices were not so low. However, the offered dishes were quite special and can rarely be found in common restaurants. I ordered Smoked Duck Linguine while my friend chose Truffles Mushroom Linguine. Both dishes were pretty good. Even the presentation on the plate was somewhat special. The serving appeared to be smaller than it really was. We both were filled and satisfied with the feast. I really recommend that...
Read moreThis is a great choice for pasta or pizza in Ximen. The pastas are especially good, and the portion sizes are generous. The interior atmosphere is very cozy and nice, but I probably would not recommend it for a romantic dinner, as the tables are seated extremely close to one another. Recommended if you are in the...
