Caffaina Coffee Gallery (Huilai) — Restaurant in Taichung

A delightful coffee house for meeting up and spending some time with friends or family. The store closes at 12AM, and even on weekdays it can get crowded late into the evening. Would recommend visiting the store earlier if you do not want to miss out certain flavors.

They have an assortment of mousses and cakes for you to choose from, however, their soufflé is the winner for me. I had the limited edition seasonal ruby chocolate soufflé and it was absolutely delicious; it was very rich in flavor, and had a distinct silky texture. On the other hand, their Passion Fruit Sakura mousse was a miss; the flavor was unappetizing, and had a trace of medicine taste to it on the first bite. Their peach and rose mousse were delicious though. I also bought a couple packages of instant drip coffee for home use, and their Land Roast Caffeina House Blend...

I have been going every day for Sea Salt Caramel Latte, which is wonderful when they have the right sweetness. However, the problem is it is never consistent. So I never know if I will like it that day.

The real reason for the 3-star is staff friendliness. They seem friendly, but not genuinely nice. It is not a place I feel welcomed, perhaps because it is always somewhat busy even on weekdays. I wait in line for my turn to order. Once at the counter, there is that pressure to finish the order process asap. Respond quickly and correctly to the staff's questions about your order, or else you sense that subtle impatience.

Very good shop...lovely food....nevertheless as it really happen often too much in Taiwan some of the staff doesn't have knowledge enough regarding igiene. Last night I was there...a lady seated outside came inside to ask for some water for her dog and she left the bottle specifically made for dogs just to help them to drink in front and near to several trays full of food ready to be collected by customers....but not only....a lady part of staff refill that bottle with the same water taken fro. The coffee machine.... I think that ship manager,unless if he/she even worse of his/her waitress should explain some thro the staff!!! There isn't covid...
