MR PIKI (North District) — Restaurant in Tainan

I am an Australian Architect from Brisbane and decided to try Mr Picky for their Australian connection. My name is pickworth so I was excited to see the name mr picky however it is very disappointing.

Firstly they advised me they are roasters not a coffee shop when looking for somewhere to sit. I feel if they offer coffee to drink a place to sit is not unreasonable. The building is a wonderful old Taiwanese building which has been renovated. I like the environment as I am an architect.

I ordered a picollo coffee as I like a coffee without too much milk. The coffee for my taste was not good. I do not feel I have had a coffee .... it was a complete non event. It was cold, too small even for a picollo, and too weak

Mr Picky is sadly yet another polite cute trendy coffee outlet without qualities to recommend coming again.

My picollo was 70nt, unfortunately the trendy excessive price for what was a very poor trendy coffee experience.

I’m a fan of Mr Piki. They specialise in Australian coffee and as such they had more western style cafe food. This was one of the only places in Tainan you could get Western style sandwiches. I was actually super impressed at how authentic the flavor was.

Imagine my surprise when I ordered their pesto chicken sandwich again and they’re using milk bread. I understood the higher price when they used sourdough bread, but charging the same for white sugary bread you could get at any breakfast shop for 60 kuai is insane.

I guess the bread texture was impacting sales and they switched over to something more familiar to Taiwanese tastes. But it’s a real shame.

I won’t bother buying their sandwiches again, since I can get the same thing for cheaper elsewhere if they’re going to use milk bread.
