I have been here because I wanted to try some vegan bakery and this was labeled as vegan from Google Maps.
After I entered, both the first and the second time I discovered that there were really few vegan sweets, and mostly were vegetarian (7% vegan, 93% vegetarian).
The price is also high since the sweets have not normal sizes.
The first time I bought two to three sweets and I was given the opportunity to study and work with my laptop while eating the sweets. The second time, I have bought two sweets and while I was eating I was working on my computer and one waitress said we could stay even though usually you should pay a minimum fee which is a drink (probably per person) while there was only few sockets, probably one, so it was not a perfect place for studying or working; later on, a different waitress came to us saying we couldn't stay for more than 30 minutes or one hour purchasing sweets but not drinks (because the sweets may be cheaper than drinks?), so we had to go out and I had no time to save my work on my computer which I had to do again at home.
Sincerely, I dislike when people tell me that I should not stay there if I have purchased food but not a drink, and most of all when they say it the second time I go there, and that they say it after I am already there since some hours or half hour. To me, it is not possible that a waitress say one thing and the other says the opposite. Also, as Buddhist I have seen some Buddhist nuns and monks eating inside. Then why if I purchase several sweets I cannot stay inside to work or study? I don't really even understand why waitresses have different opinions about it.
About the taste of the sweets: interesting, but really too few...
Read moreIf there's one thing you can say about Taiwan, it's that there's no shortage of vegetarian/vegan restaurants. That being said, some are pretty boring or even quite awful, so finding a good one is always something to shout about.
This particular place is not only a cafe and restaurant but a bakery too. You wouldn't think that a bakery couldn't be vegetarian, but to the uninitiated to Taiwan, bakeries quite often add animal products to their breads and cakes, so if you want to be certain they don't use animal fat or some kind of fish ingredient, then a vegetarian bakery is good to find.
I ate here with the family twice in two days recently, and I have to say the food is great, the choice is pretty astounding, and the food comes very quickly - it's even great value, with a typical large plate of food costing around NT$250, which is about UK£5.00, so really not bad at all. There are quite a few dishes that are European style, so if that's your preference, then you'll be happy, even if it's not quite the same - Im thinking of some Italian dishes, that aren't easy to get right, even in the UK. Still delicious though. There are quite a few dishes that mention meat or fish, but don't worry, everything that says meat is actually fake meat, usually made from tofu, Gluten or a vegetable protein, so don't be alarmed!
All in all great service and food, even if the decor is a...
Read moreI don't get the hype over this restaurant. We called in for my friends birthday for a party of 12. First, they were slow in refilling our water even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Then, we ordered our food and waited a while for the food to arrive. Our food then arrived in the worst trickle I've experienced in my life. One by one someone's food would arrive every 5 minutes. In fact the last food arrived about 35 minutes after the first. My friend's desert arrived before his entree. I ordered a risotto which was not a risotto, just some rice in a wet sauce. When I asked for some cheese to sprinkle on top, they couldn't find it. Overall a very bad experience, even though some of the food the others ordered...
