As a student of NTNU, this is one of only a handful of options for a convenient lunch between class. The line is always incredibly long at lunchtime.
I will start by saying I have had a few bentos from here that I would put in the "great" category. However, after having over 50 bentos from this shop, I can only say that their bentos are subpar on average.
My biggest issue is the price. If you're charging outside prices for a chicken breast bento, then I expect restaurant level quality. This unfortunately isn't the case and the quality is no better than a bento from the other school bento shop that charges 75 and is 20 steps away. The rice always seems like it is leftover rice that is oddly sticky, wet, and mushy (which I assume is to save on costs). Concerningly, about half of the chicken bentos I've ordered have had chicken that isn't fully cooked. This leaves me only being able to eat a couple pieces and throwing the rest away to avoid food poisoning. Effectively wasting 110-120NTD.
Other concerns: •The kitchen is never lit, which I assume in an effort to save money, but brief glimpses back there don't instill confidence in sanitation. •The frontend worker always handles money with the same hand(s) he uses to prepare your bento.
My recommendations: • Lower the price if you're going to keep to keep the same level of quality. Paying 85 NTD for a questionable school meal is a lot more reasonable than paying 120 for a questionable school meal. • Improve general sanitation • Turn on the lights in the kitchen, so the staff can actually see if the chicken is thoroughly cooked • If you're going to keep the price being as high as outside bentos shops then at least include an entire egg...
