Excellent, delicious meal! Had the 550NT option that was the day's fish option. It progressed through 8 increasingly larger (but never too large) dishes that included a good variety of veggies and meats to the tender, juicy fish itself. Strongly recommend making a reservation and bringing your appetite. Also, no take out option (there's no menu and I guess they're busy enough as it is). If you're staying in this little 'resort' village, there are very few evening dining options, so plan ahead if you want to eat here. Limited English, but enough for everyone to get by. Check ahead for their schedule as their day off may be midweek.
Update April 2018: back for another visit to the area and returned here for dinner. There have been some changes inside since our previous visit in 2016. Most notably, the kitchen has moved from being hidden in the back to now taking nearly the entire length of one side of the dining area. Business must have been good to justify the expansion, however, IMO, the change negativity affects the dining experience. You hear more of the kitchen bustle now. The overall feeling, along with the decor, is somewhat cafeteria style and less of an intimate dining experience, especially towards the back, where there is more kitchen traffic and the massive air-conditioning unit is located. Food was still very good, though didn't quite match the experience a couple years ago, perhaps because we knew what to expect. But both of us agreed overall presentation was a notch down from before. Back in 2016 our recollection was that of possibly a husband and wife team running the show, while now it's a team of young 20-something...
Read moreLove, love, love this tiny creative restaurant visited November 2016. Full-course meal at one fixed price, and come to be served without knowing what’s on the menu. There is no menu. Reservation must be made months in advance, very unlikely to get a table for last minute walk-in. A Hard to find place, but worth going out of my way to dine here. It’s still one of the most memorable restaurants during my last Taiwan visit, if not the most memorable. I’d totally want to visit again next time. Not inexpensive for locals, but a fair price for us from the U.S. I’d paid the same price dining here rather than having a nice steak dinner. Forgot how much but likely between $40-$50-ish USD per person. Dishes are served super fast, one after another. The flavor compliments so well, from drinks, main course, appetizers, just everything. I would love to have 2 stomachs for this place. The appearance of this place may not do it justice. But this is certainly a fine dining experience for my pallet. Love, love, LOVE this place. Amongst the best of the best in my...
Read moreDelicious and localized food for Taiwanese aboriginals. They make the food from local meat, local plants and local water. The food are not purely cooked. They are designed and made in special way. The set includes salad, soup, meat, vegetable...etc, which all put it special dishes or plate. You should book in advance if you are planning to go there. It's composed of a set of different prices. The higher price mean higher quality. The set is cost-effective with its price not so expensive. I ordered the lower price one, and I was about to be full around 75% of the set. I eat a lots typically. You should go there on time. If you go much earlier, you should wait outside, because they are preparing for the food, and thus you are not allowed to go inside. Some cats outside and you can play with them to make use of the time. The restaurant is famous in Huskies. However, after the Hualian earthquake, I am not sure the shop is okay or not. It worth a try if you visit Hualian city. Just bless for Hualien after...
