Backyard Jr. Dazhi — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

Made reservation for 12 people for a business lunch at 1200 in the private room. I showed up at 1130 trying to order food, so they would not be rushed. The staff was impatient and told me no, and I had to wait until 12. No problem. We ordered 12 drinks, none of which were complicated (beers and highballs). The first drink was served at 12:50 and first food served at 12:45, almost one hour after we sat down, for lunch! We did not get all our drinks until sixty minutes after we sat down, which made the business lunch very awkward. My colleagues and clients were scared to order another round because they did not want to run out of time. When I chatted with the staff, I was told "we are short staffed due to COVID." You asked the customer to be flexible due to COVID which I understand but you offered no flexibility for the customer when I asked to order a bit earlier. I was embarrassed to take my clients there....

Happily a 4-star place. Food is slightly above average, serving in Chinese-fusion style (in a positive way.) The chief has good understanding among Taiwanese culture and know how to cook in a way that matches with the alcohol here. Mussels - smartly picked Taiwanese local mussels. Fat and juicy with awesome sauce Fries - go with beer well (not sure if they got beer.) Whisky maybe Sea platter - great stuff. Brilliant selection of seafood decorated with Western platting technique Braised pork with rice - a must pick here. You shouldn’t miss this in any given way Chicken wings - good but plain and a little bit spicy. Servant should have reminded as that chicken wings come with fries Chicken pasta - almost as good as GMT Italians restaurant upstairs. Love the bubbles

Backyard Jr. is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves instant noodles, served in an elevated and delicious form. The restaurant served me the most expensive instant noodles I've ever had, and it was worth every penny. The toppings were fresh and delicious, particularly the perfectly poached egg and the tasty beef. The cocktails were also a real standout, they were incredibly well made and delicious. I had many in my sitting and the bartender was truly impressive. He had great recommendations and a clear understanding of flavors.
