There is no need to go into frantic prayers thinking your room is haunted when the toilet lid opens by itself to welcome you. Also, it closes by itself and sometimes makes strange noises in the night. I arrived at 1 am and was frightened pale when that happened. Just have to get used to automatic toilet. I like the electrically warmed seat it had, and I was expecting it to do more. Well, disappointingly it was not capable of turning into an outdoor Italian fountain. This is a business district. So, I guess the reason I was put here by my host was that this is the nearest good known hotel near my office. The lobby is very spacious, entirely marble white and welcoming. The room I had was equally grand and tinted in white and blue theme. It was towards the luxurious trendy side, carpeted with marble table tops and a see-through bathroom. Sturdy desk by the window in my room, a variety of electrical sockets built into the desktop was such a convenience. All was good until I needed do some video conferences. Now the Internet here was really bad. I missed most of my nightly conference because of this. Bed provided decent sleep quality, but I wished the linens were softer and it would have been perfect. It still had that not-run-in feel which was slightly rough on the skin. The breakfast was not a disappointment. Enough spread for a fitting morning meal. Every dish was right and in line with what you expect in a good hotel. The staff were all courteous and attentive. There are 2 restaurants and a reputable steakhouse in the hotel. If hotel food is not your main dietary, diagonally opposite is a mall with a Ferris wheel on top. Below you will find a food court. On the upper levels, you will find mall type restaurants. A block away, there is another food court below Carrefour. This means if you want the real deal local delicacies on the streets, you won’t find any. Nether is there any night markets in the immediate vicinity. No Taiwan experience here you will find as such. I saw that most people here were on business during breakfast. And only a handful were far away foreigners like me. Most were speaking mandarin, means either they are locals from other cities, or from the near neighboring countries. That said, for a business trip this is a decent hotel to stay in. But if you rely heavily on the Internet, would be wise to give a consideration...
Read moreOur ten day stay at VR has been a wonderful experience thanks to the exceptional staff at La Festa. The breakfast my wife and I have had each day was so good that it had become our main meal of the day. Li Ching my wife being Taiwanese is more than happy with the wide Taiwanese selection of food and myself being English found the combination of western food and Taiwanese choices very tasty add to this the superb service of the whole team then we feel completely at home. The chef and waiting staff deserve an extra thanks for putting up with my English breakfast requests such as extra cutlery, crockery, tea pot and milk jug for my Breakfast tea, you provided me with everything I needed to make my breakfast even more enjoyable. Sometimes the chef would present a dish of the day which varied the selection even more. Chef Yan, sous-chef Mei, Ellan, and the young waiter who every time I put the bread in the toaster appeared with a warm plate for me, special thanks to them. A kinder, more friendly and efficient team I have rarely met on my travels.|I have passed the above to the staff it relates to in writing.|The reception desk could be more welcoming and a smile would brighten the day, having said this they are efficient.
