Mitsui Japanese Cuisine in Taipei offers an exquisite dining experience that seamlessly blends traditional Japanese flavors with modern culinary artistry. Known for its elegant ambiance and attentive service, Mitsui has become a favorite among discerning diners seeking high-quality Japanese cuisine in the city.

The meal commenced with an abalone salad, where tender slices of abalone were paired with crisp greens, creating a refreshing start. The sashimi platter showcased a selection of impeccably fresh fish, each piece melting in the mouth and reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to quality.

A standout dish was the tempura crab legs—lightly battered and fried to perfection, offering a delightful crunch that gave way to succulent crab meat. The scallops, seared just right, were sweet and tender, highlighting the natural flavors of the sea. An adventurous choice, the deep-fried durian, presented a unique twist, balancing the fruit’s distinctive aroma with a crispy exterior.

The cod in tomato puree was a harmonious blend of delicate fish and a rich, tangy sauce, demonstrating Mitsui’s ability to innovate while respecting traditional tastes. To conclude, the dessert duo of fresh mango and black sesame ice cream provided a refreshing and satisfying end to the meal.

Mitsui’s reputation for excellence is well-earned, with its meticulous attention to detail, seasonal menu offerings, and dedication to sourcing premium ingredients. Whether for a special occasion or a refined dining experience, Mitsui Japanese Cuisine stands out as a premier destination in Taipei’s culinary scene.

The worst service ever. Sitting at the sushi bar with my guests from the US. No one greets us for 15 minutes . After we placed an order for a bottle of sake, the person left without asking us if we want to have some tea or water. Another 10 minutes waiting with no one serving us anything….We have to wave down somebody just to give our food orders. Sushi chef is practically ignoring us the whole time without any eye contact unless we call him to ask some questions . We ordered omakase. No introduction of what they are serving either. To be fair , the raw fish and raw seafood are very fresh and good . However, there is not much flair or variety of the $2500 omakase menu. When they serve raw fish and seafood , all of them has no specially made sauce or special ingredients. No creativity or variety on the omakase food choices at all . Chef didn’t even give us sushi or hand roll , or steam clams, nor baked crab…. Like we see on the pictures….Just a few courses of raw fish n seafood ,baked fish, small fry squid tempera , soup And call it a day 🥲 very disappointing experience I felt let down because I wanted to treat my friends from the US at the famous Mitsui. The place is beautifully remodeled. Nice interior. Very sad that the service and sushi chef are very average and not good enough for such a beautiful restaurant. Then we heard that the head chef is off today🙃🙃🙃wow. Without the head chef , we are just being serve with a second class...

Yummy food. Delicious. Definitely worth the price. However, their service wasn’t great.

We had a private room, however, the servers weren’t available when we needed them. We had to get up from our seats and go out of the room to find the servers several times. The private room was great though, very spacious and nice. The servers weren’t very meticulous when it came to serving us. We were here for a birthday celebration, and their servers didn’t wait for a good time to serve the cake with the candles. They came in at an awkward time when the tables were still full of used plates. We were also taking pictures and they didn’t bother to wait until we finished. No one was ready for the cake, it caught us by surprise. I found this very unprofessional, and they didn’t seem to think it was a problem.

We also found a hair in one of our meals. You’d think we wouldn’t run into this at a high end restaurant like this, we were wrong. However, they did apologize and gave us another as a result.

Besides from the bad service, I would love to enjoy another meal from this place due to the delicious food. And lastly, I want to point out that I loved the restrooms. They were big...

I should rate this restaurant 6 stars! A special bonus goes to the cleanness and customer care - they even check your temperature when you enter to avoid having sick people that could potentially infect also the other customers. Everything is just perfect inside, ultra clean! Location wise it’s excellent for lunch or dinner if you visit the Garden maze, Expo park, Fine Arts Museum or 號林安泰古厝. They speak English and have English menus, so it’s easy to order and get around. I attach the menu from 2nd February 2020. We went for the High mountain tea (Gaoshan Cha - you should try it while in Taiwan), Miso soup, Tempura king prawn with tempura vegetables, salmon roll and the beef ribs for 2 people (it’s a bit like a Japanese hot pot and the waiter will cook it for you) - photos and videos with everything below. You receive at the end free ice cream or red beans soup. We went for ice cream (matcha and black sesame) that came with a few fruits - grapes, asian pear and guava. Overall an excellent restaurant, not to be missed, especially if you like or you want to try Japanese food. A++
