D food was decent, the price has definitely gone up and it's not as cheap as it used to be. The cheapest hotpot option is priced at 170, but it only came with 3-4 pieces of meat, tofu, and some tiny bits dumplings with some cabbage, which Taiwanese people apparently love.

However, one thing I really appreciated about this restaurant is that they offer free flow drinks, condiments (garlic, sauce paste, soy sauce, vinegar, scallion), ice cream, and popcorn. The drinks were the highlight of my experience - I highly recommend trying their hot foamy milk, which was so milky and creamy, as well as their Matcha milk and almond milk (although the almond milk was a bit too watery for my taste). The ice cream was also really flavorful.

Overall, I think this restaurant is a decent option if you're looking for hotpot. The free flow drinks and condiments are definitely a plus, but the portion size could...

Surf and turf meal was good. Lots of seafood. Could have used more meat. Good ice cream and drinks 5/5 stinky tofu hot pot — I think this one has the best ingredient combination 4/5 kimchi flavor hot pot 5/5 medicine flavor hot pot 5/5 milk flavor hot pot 4/5 Thai style hot pot — not a lot of Thai Tom yum taste

Coffees: 5/5 Mocha — good blend of coffee and sweetness 3/5 caffe latte — bland, too much milk 4/5 expresso — sweet/bitter 4/5 cappuccino — bitter/sweet 2/5 americano — just black coffee

Ice creams: 5/5 Thai tea soft serve — excellent, tastes just like thai tea, very sweet 3/5 matcha tea soft serve — not that sweet

Scoop ice creams — I put scoops into my coffee to make affogato:

4/5 purple raisin 5/5 chocolate

5/5...

I'm not sure why the ratings for this place isn't higher, but we had a good experience here. Of course we were hungry, so everything tasted better, naturally, 😁 but the food portions were more generous than the bigger hotpot chains, and the service was more friendly. I had a couple of questions while putting in my order and the staff at the front was patient in explaining. The 2 pots we ordered arrived timely, and the unlimited popcorn (we didn't try this), puffy chips (very delicious, we ate so many), rice, and drinks were all good to very good. Finally, the ice cream was good too and there were 2 boxes to choose from with 6 flavors in each boxes, some repeats, but a very good...

Guoin is a great affordable place to get hotpot. Unlike most hotpots in popularity in Taipei like Mala hotpot, this is pay per order not all you can eat. Only the rice, drinks, and desserts (ie. ice cream) are all you can eat. Prices are around 200ntd but I would highly recommend paying the extra 20ntd for larger portions. Larger portion in my opinion is just right and for a few ntd, it is worth it. This is compared to over 650ntd +10% service fee at all you can eat hotpots. You should arrive before 5:30pm because of its popularity with local students, otherwise you will have to line up for a while. The time limit I believe is 1hr per sitting.
