Absolutely Phenomenal Pizza! Gusto is a Taipei Gem for Authentic Italian Gusto Pizza is hands-down one of the best pizzerias I've found in Taipei. This cozy spot in the Yongkang district truly delivers an authentic, wood-fired, Neapolitan-style experience that lives up to all the hype. The moment you step inside, the beautiful aroma from the oven confirms you are in for a treat.
The star of the show is the crust—airy, chewy, and perfectly charred, achieving that ideal balance of thick-on-the-outside, thin-in-the-middle texture. It’s light, flavorful, and easy to digest, which is the mark of a truly great pizza dough.
We ordered two excellent specialty pies:
The Denis Supreme: This is your go-to if you crave a bold, savory, and slightly spicy supreme experience. The combination of seasoned minced beef, earthy mushrooms, and aromatic onions is already fantastic, but the addition of tangy sun-dried tomatoes and a kick of jalapeños elevates it to perfection. It’s a complex, flavor-packed pie that’s anything but ordinary.
The Popeye: A brilliant and unique blend that was surprisingly harmonious. The base of tomato sauce and mozzarella is topped with flavorful minced beef and healthy portions of fresh spinach. The real game-changer is the inclusion of a perfectly baked egg right in the center. Breaking the yolk and letting it coat the slice adds an incredible richness that ties the whole pizza together. It’s comforting, hearty, and a must-try for something different!
Overall: Gusto Pizza focuses on quality ingredients and masterful technique. The pizzas are well-balanced and the service...
Read moreI'm gonna say it- BEST CRUST IN TAIPEI and thus far the best overall pizza I've had in Taiwan. I'm only giving 4-stars because a 5 means it's perfection and nothing is perfect. Plus, we gotta keep the owner honest and working towards getting even better. I've been here easily 30-times and it has gotten better every time. Bilal, the owner has come a very long way in improving and perfecting what has come to be the best crust in Taipei. And this is only because he took customers feedback seriously, which is a complete rarity in Taiwan, but also because he's truly passionate about pizza and making his guests happy.
Beyond the pizza, the environment is as happy and welcoming a place as you will find in Taiwan and on par with countries whose hospitality is world renowned. I always joke that this place is like "Cheers" the old TV show bar where everyone knows each other and chats across the restaurant. I miss going to such truly hospitable places and I'm really happy to have one here in Taipei. IF You want a great pizza and a fun conversation or just a warm welcome- go to Gusto Pizza. You won't regret it! And if you ever do have an issue, speak up and I'm sure it'll be taken care of. Personally, I think it's a great place to grab a take out pizza or two or three for a weekend picnic at Da'an Park. Keep it up Bilal! We'll keep...
Read moreAfter reading all the reviews saying it's the best pizza in Taipei I was somewhat disappointed. I went two times and both times thought the crust was too thick for a thin crust pizza and way too chewy. My jaw got tired. The price is too high for a small, casual eatery with no service. The second time I tried the margarita which was 250NT. The other pizza I had was in the 350NT range. I had this with the drink and salad combo for an additional 150NT. The chickpea salad was good but needed more flavour. The drink was a sugary can drink. Overall the pizzas were not bad but too expensive. I saw the prices from previous menus and it seems like the prices keep on getting increased. If I'm going to pay this rate, I might as well pay a bit more and go to Zoca for some gourmet pizza or Mary Jane for basic, cheap pizza. Gusto Pizza should focus on keeping the prices lower so people don't have to think twice about the price for what they are getting. There are so many food establishments in the Yong Kang street area. Gusto Pizza needs to figure out who its cliental is because right across the street is Toasteria with a nice environment and good menu of relatively delicious food. Around the corner is a new cafe with amazing decor and great salad with free lemon flavored water for 150NT (but...
