SUCHEE CAFE 苏柒小馆 — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

First impression was ok as my friend and I wanted a quiet and private place to chat and have a simple brunch. My friend ordered a breakfast with juice and I ordered a avocado&egg wrap, a soda water and Jasmine oolong tea for both. Juice and soda water came half an hour later, my friend received her breakfast 20 minutes later and I got my wrap 20 minutes later. From the moment I ordered to the moment I got my wrap and hour and half passed (what I assume is a long time for what we ordered) and we didn’t got our plates at the same time which I understard it is what should be done. Jasmine tea never came, they forgot, I asked them 20 minutes after I finished and they were completely out of space… totally forgot, I also had to ask them to take the empty plates away. We canceled the forgotten tea, asked the bill and left. Bill as usual came fast and clear. The most surprising thing was that the place was EMPTY, only us, so you may wonder why so bad and slow service if they were not busy. I cannot imagine if they were busy, the staff could not handle that. Food was ok, not bad not wow. It wasnt a party of flavors, My wrap did not have any pinch of salt, some would say healthy … but you could eat it, which is not a bad thing but when you add the bad service it takes this place out of competition among the many many coffees in the peninsula. I hope the owner could use this experience to improve and train better the staff. In my case I cannot recommend and not planning...

I would like to give this place a five star rating because it has a comprehensive menu in a nice enough location with options for indoor and outdoor seating…. But for a cafe in 2025 to not have any WiFi to use when sitting or getting any work done is honestly a failure on the part of the establishment… a broadband connection in dar is as cheap as 25 dollars. So to not even have the lowest of speeds is honestly baffling.

Pros: good setting and atmosphere to get through a coffee or a nice light Asian meal.

Cons: no WiFi which means you can get any work going to answer a few emails as you wait for your meal.

If this changes in the future. I’ll come back to offer them a 5 star rating. Because otherwise for Masaki it satisfies a unique...

After 6 weeks in Tanzania I craved this bowl of spicy beef noodle soup with my entire being. It hit the spot! I had the watermelon yakult drink and also the lemon cheesecake for dessert. We also ordered the sweet potato balls and the two other noodle dishes together. It was so much food we could barely move. Very very spicy! Very delicious.
