My husband and I spent a full month in this hotel and we are now back after half a year. A hidden gem, this hotel is the definition of value for money. Great location, close to embassies, supermarket, a variety of restaurants, Thai massage, and the beach. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and pillows, large smart TV, fridge, kettle, good air-con, stable WiFi, and a great shower. Housekeeping staff are very professional and attentive. Generally, all staff show exceptional dedication to their role and this compensates for any infrastructural deficiencies. The pool is accessible 24/7 and there’s also an idyllic lounge bar-restaurant with fantastic music and very good food (one needs to be patient though, or place an order in advance). The garden is very well-kept and there are a few bunnies and ducks running around, as well as many, many koi fish in ponds. Read moreGOOD SIDE 3 nights at Totara was an absolutely great experience especially for a new hotel thats just a few days old. Credit due to vast experience in the hotel business goes to the family that owns and runs the hotel but not forgetting the dedicated staff who go an extra mile to ensure that your stay is maximumly comfortable.
BAD SIDE Not worth mentioning coz the bad side is petty and will change with time.
GREAT SIDE Green compound, fish aquariums and ponds spread all over, a BIG BUFFET BREAKFAST with variety and not forgetting an afternoon tea break with mouth watering cakes, cookies, biscuits, fruit variety.... phew!!!.... the list is endless.
GREATER SIDE We were so worried about the Dar es salaam heat..... and then bang!!!.… a non crowdy swimming pool, well placed in the middle of the property brought a big sigh of relief and for a second i thought i had walked into the...
Read moreThe hotel is lovely, convenient and quiet location. Loved that about it. Breakfast options were okay but repetitive for all the days stayed. Clean pool and WiFi is available. Downside was the staff treated us unfairly on one of the days one of us was unwell. We requested for breakfast in the room for the unwell guest. The waitress and the restaurant was agreeable but needed instructions from the reception. The ladies at the reception refused to give the instructions. They at first lied they would call and kept us waiting for over 2 hours until when breakfast service had already concluded. And it was clear breakfast was not available. You should have communicated that you would not provide the breakfast in the room if you did not intend to. It was rather...
