Urban Jiko Restaurant — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

My husband read the reviews and decided for us to check out the place for dinner. We followed the GPS however location was not as marked. It was further down. We reached and were greeted with smiles and seated. Cozy place with a 7 or 8 seating area inside the restaurant but they have outdoor seating too. My husband knew instantly what he wanted, I was overwhelmed with the choices. I settled for a steak fillet with pepper sauce. The service was slow as we waited for a while until our order reached. The manager also checked on us which was very nice. The food looked great. My husband thought the batter was a bit thicker than the size of the fish but he loved the taste. My steak was well done, for which I usually have medium well. But the waiter didn't ask. How I liked my steak, needless to say the sauce was on point. The sautéed vegetables were yum. The portion size was perfect for the price. The manager did ask how the food was and immediately wanted to correct the steak but I was already half way. I liked that he cared on how the food was and the reviews. I enjoyed it very much and I'd highly recommend it. I ordered again last night their beef burger and beef pizza. The pizza is a fail as it's very dry, ery crisp, no cheese. I wouldn't order the pizza however the burger was juicy and very tasty. The fries that came along didn't look fries as they were dry and oily. But burger was good. I'd definitely keep ordering and trying other things on the menu. Overall...

Urban Jiko was such a delight, especially because we didn't plan to visit and found ourselves there spontaneously.

We visited quite early so they were just setting up for lunch. The manager there, personally attended us. He was charming and very welcoming.

Our order was taken and processed within 15mins. We ordered mutton roganjosh with white rice. Chilli garlic cheese naan with daal tadka, egg fried rice and a beef burger.

Ever single dish was a delicious bite from above! Lol! Literally, we thoroughly enjoyed our food, we over ate and left extremely satisfied. My 3 children devoured the egg fried rice and daal.

I also tried their sweet lassi which definitely topped off the meal. It was my first time at urban jiko and I'd definitely recommend it any day.

We wanted to try out their kulfi and tiramisu. But we're too stuffed to. Will definitely visit...

Great restaurant located on Mindu street to devour variety of cuisines. You are able to order from American Buffalo wings, to Lasagna, to Paneer Tikka Masala. Their menu is very interesting and each item sounds appealing. The decor inside is great- I like the simplicity and clean environment. The service can be better- the food took very long and they forgot one of our items and also forgot it on the bill.
