A place to not only consume and enjoy one of the highest quality foods I personally was able to find on this beautiful island, but a place to call home of an innovative culinary concept not seen before on Zanzibar. One must acknwoledge the sheer afford put into every single dish. You can choose between so many layers for everyone's taste. What is meant by that, you are provided by seemingly infinite possibilites as the menu is really versatile. You will be able to choose whether you want east african classics like "chapati" or perhaps burgers suite you more? I was there almost everyday of my stay to try something new! All the different sauces and side dishes make it so that you simply cannot get bored of Rafiki's Chickie's.
Talking about service, the owners as well as the staff prioritize making you enter and leave with a broad smile on your face as well as with a satisfied and fully tummy. Everyone is soooo friendly and courteous.
There may not be vegetarian dishes on the menu... however that didn't stop me ordering something vegetarian there whenever I felt like it, so don't let the menu and the chicken based name fool you when I tell you there really is something for everyone to be found here.
The tasteful design of this restaurant the good and chill atmosphere it brings with it, as well as the music played in the background make for an amazing experience not just food-wise.
By the way, only fools would not order a passion ice tea as a...
Read moreWe took two different burgers and the rice with spices. The burgers were.... well... You could eat it, but it was not delicious. I would not spend that money on it again. Hard to describe, but it was disappointing. And most of all the rice!! The rice was extremely disappointing. I love rice like crazy, especially Basmati rice, but I didn't know that you could destroy the taste of basmati rice like this... It seemed like they only soaked the rice in some vegetable consommé and put some green herbs or something that's all, it was just salty and the taste was not nice. We didn't even want to eat it, we normally never leave a grain of rice on the plate. The waiter was nice, but when you tell as a guest that the rice is not good and you see they haven't almost touched it, then you should try to find a way to make it better. But well, it is what it is. Honestly for us no place to go again. My boyfriend loves burgers, so we eat at a lot of places, which were amazing, but...
Read moreThis literally made our day! We coincidentally stopped there as we were looking for something to eat and the decorations from the outside captured our attention so we decided to go in and give a try. The menu for me at the beginning wasn’t very exciting as I didn’t understand/appreciate how Austrian-Tanzanian combinations will taste like, but GUESS WHAT! IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST FOOD I’ve HAD, not only in Zanzibar but also all over the world. They created very yummy food at affordable prices and the chef is very creative in his selections and everything is freshly made and locally sourced. We tried the grilled chicken salad, the Jambiani, and a side of rice. Definitely going again before the end of our short stay in Zanzibar. Two recommendations: adding a fan to maybe give some airflow, and adding alcoholic beverages (at least wines and beers) as it will be a great addition with this yummy food. Five stars...
