The best Som Tom I had over a year in Thailand. The menu is in Thai with pictures. But don't worry, they have someone who speaks perfect English to guide you. With his help, I had a cooked crab+cockle Som Tom (DIY one 😉). Don't forget to order the crispy pork, not only it's perfectly crispy outside and tender inside, it will save you from the brutality of the spiciness. He gave me 50% spicy (level 1), and I was still internally screaming (FYI, I'm Korean, so slightly better spicy-tolerate than most of you). Make sure you request to make the least spicy and might order extra plain noodles to give your tastebuds some break. Don't worry though, it's very flavourful, and the night market has plenty of options of ice creams that you could use to cool it down the blast.
And I didn't have any stomach problem the day after. They also clean/sanitise tables after each customer and every staff wears a mask (Dec 2021 when the COVID outbreak is...
Read moreI saw reviews mentioning the number of chilies 🌶️, but when I actually tried it, it felt even spicier than what the reviews said 😂. I ordered level 2 (the shop said it has 15 chilies). Normally, I love super spicy food, and I’d say this place is indeed spicy, but still manageable — not the kind of spicy that’s torturous. I ordered two dishes(ยำแซลม่อนไข่แดงเค็ม); the taste was great. The flavor leans a bit on the sweet side, and the dipping sauce is a kind of jaew that doesn’t have toasted rice powder or culantro.
The restaurant is spacious and airy, with fans, but there were mosquitoes — even though it wasn’t dark yet when I arrived. The prices are really good. One of the dishes I ordered came with a lot of salted egg yolks — way more than I expected. I thought I’d get just 2 or 3 pieces, but there...
Read moreReally good and dangerously spicy 😅. We tried the spicy salads with cooked shrimp, raw salmon and the raw jellyfish. The seafood was better quality than we were expecting, nothing smelled or tasted off, and I'm writing this review a day later. So, indulge in the jellyfish, it's really good as a spicy salad!
As for spiciness, you can pick your level of heat. We did 13 out of a max 16... holy cow, now that's some heat! Hotter than any leng zap I've had in Bangkok and I eat the chillies in the soup.
Only wish they served more items to pair with spicy salad, but they...
