I've tried most of the fine dining restaurants in Chiang Mai and in my experience Oxygen Dining Room is easily the worst and most overpriced fine dining restaurant I've been to in Chiang Mai.
We were planning to have dinner here and started by ordering wine and two entrées while looking at the mains. However, the entrées were so bad that we decided to leave and go eat somewhere else instead.
It started out fine, the bread was good and the three different butters they give you was a nice touch. However, it went downhill very fast once the entrées arrived.
The Hokkaido scallop dish which is over 800 baht was tiny. Two small scallops for over 800 baht is very expensive even for a fine dining restaurant. I wouldn't have minded the high price if the dish was good, but it wasn't. The scallops were quite dry and a bit chewy. I'm not sure if they were old scallop or just overcooked, but I suspect it was probably both. The cauliflower pure was very bland and watery and overall the dish was just lacking any kind of flavor.
The second entree was the larb tord, which is supposed to be their fancy version of the local larb tord dish, using angus beef. It was basically a very overcooked and dry burger patty in some kind of bland breading with a sauce, which had nothing to do with the original taste of larb tord.
The service wasn't good either. At no point during our visit did any of the staff ask us if the food was ok. Even when they came to clear the plates and saw that we hadn't even finished half of the food they didn't bother to ask if there was a problem with the food or anything. For a place with such high prices at the very least the service should be great and it's very strange that they don't even bother asking if the food is ok when customers don't even eat half of a small entrée.
Overall this was just a very disappointing experience and I will definitely not be...
Read moreThis is the most ridiculous Michelin experience. Made a reservation well in advance at 12pm on a Sunday 5th January 2025 let’s be specific, hoping to enjoy some view and food as lined out by the website.
Upon arrival, a huge crowd of a wedding? guests having breakfast? went all out everywhere in the restaurant, some are tipsy. Felt worse than a night market.
Only after 5 minutes, someone came to ask us what we were doing here. “Lunch for 3 at 12pm”? Then they guided us to a patio asking us to wait, 10 minutes later, came with a menu, telling us that the restaurant seems not ready before 2:30pm, asking us if it’s ok to have it in the random guest lounge, with paper boxes on the counter.
The whole “experience” gives you the feeling of Lack of time management Lack of control/ management on current situations
This restaurant is a huge no, such a disrespect/ disgrace to Michelin that a restaurant is using its name to attract diners, but absolutely failed to deliver.
No matter how nice the food/ kitchen team is, the service/ management behind there, is not going to bring it anywhere.
Perhaps, I was the extreme unlucky case, but again, who would have expected the need to be lucky being ready to spend money on a Michelin...
Read moreHad honestly the worst fine dining experience in our lives… we were here on a trip and had the experience menu of 3,500 baht. From the amuse bouche, to the mains, almost everything was a miss. The only two things on the menu that was edible was the sea urchin egg royale and lobster bisque. The Atlantic tuna, from the first glance, you can tell that it’s not fresh, have had better from casual Japanese restaurants than this. The rest was hard to finish and we had to send both our A5 wagyu back. My other two friends had the lamb and even those were dry and tough. This was so confusing because when it arrived, it actually look like it’s medium rare but it’s the most cold, dry and chewy steak I’ve ever eaten… we had to send it back and it’s my first time asking them not to refire because we really don’t think it would come back better. They were nice enough to give us a 10% discount for this but it really still doesn’t justify how bad our experience was. For a Michelin Guide selected restaurant, it really just doesn’t make sense.
The notes of the food we had was truly just soggy, bland, no harmony in flavour and just in general,...
