Phaen Din Vegan Vegetarian Restaurant — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Arrived for a late lunch when many other places were shut and thank goodness they were shut, or we may never have discovered this place! My dad had grapao tom yum (mock spicy chicken with Thai basil, rice and egg), while I had ba mee luang (yellow egg noodles with fried mock pork). Both were artfully done and I would have thought we were eating real meat if the store had not stated it was vegetarian. In general, the menu appears to attempt (with success) to mimic classic comfort dishes in Thailand. The area is very comfortable and open with lots of seating. The staff are kind and attentive. We came to eat here every other day while we stayed in Chiang Mai because we knew we wouldn't be disappointed and also the value for money is amazing. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. They even gave us a taste of their newest taco creation for free. Try the stir fried chicken protein with basil leaves (just tell them to make it little less spicy if you are not that into spicy things)...

One of the best vegetarian places in town. Very flavorful, big portion with reasonable price. I got there pretty hungry and didn't expect such generous portion so I almost over-ordered for myself. The cold-pressed juice is also very refreshing.
