I question the condition of the cats, why they never meow? Have their voice chord been cut by surgery? I hope not.
Other than my question concerning the cats voice I do like this Catbucks very much, the place is very clean and comfortable, relaxing to watch the neatly kept cats, none of them shows violent agression toward humans though some do sometimes play a little aggressively with other cats, but nothing serious, all are fun in the end.
Prices for drinks are not cheap by Thai local standard but the place has to make money, it does not serve meals, just drinks and some snack foods. I think cheapest thing there is 60B. I bought a ice coffee for 70B, sat and watch about 20 cats for an hour, it was closing time at 10pm otherwise I would sit a little longer, there were empty seats, was not full.
For 40B you can buy a little pack of some kind of paste to feed the cats, seem like cats really like it, most cats get very excited when they see a pack of that, but otherwise they mostly ignore humans, they just sit or lay around at a distance, they are not trained to do tricks to please humans.
Most cats are really decent and cute but they just won't go to human unless they see the human has a pack of cat snack paste.
This place is great for people who like cats or animals, or people who are lonely or depress, maybe with these cats all around nearby quietly doing nothing much can take the loneliness or depression away.
Do patronize this cat cafe, but go find out if those cats have had their voice cord removed and leave a comment here for all to read, because I am skeptical, hope the cats still have their voice cord...
Read moreI can’t give this cafe more than 1 star even that I love cats. My boyfriend and I cycled through Chiang Rai and passed by this cafe, saw the cats through the windows. Like many others, we were captured by the cute looking cats inside. So before we left, we paid it a visit. As soon as we got in the room with the cats, we immediately felt bad for them. It’s a place with nowhere to hide. Cats are forced to be exposed to constant strangers, both in the room and outside of the windows. They don’t look happy. Some of them are sleeping or just pretend to be asleep. The room is too bright for a cat and temperature is too low. I have cats back home for years, so I know they like to be on their own every now and then(actually most of the time if they can). My boyfriend also sensed that and said it felt like getting into a “feline wh*re house”. We both felt uneasy and decided not to touch them, only sat by the table and saw if any one of them would like to approach us. None. I really feel sorry for the cats. They are not rescued stray cats obviously. Most of them are those tame pure breeds. They are more like a bait for the business. I sincerely hope the owner(s) of the place can AT LEAST put more hiding places for the cats in the room. Or stop using them for attraction. Animals shouldn’t be entertainers nor slaves for humans. This is my first and probably the LAST time...
Read moreSmall but pretty cafe. Everyone has to order something to get in (buying cat treats is also sufficient).
They opened at 9 but the cats were let in at 10, so something to be mindful of!
The cats seemed happy and healthy, they actively came towards people (even without treats) and had plenty of opportunity to get away if they dont like you.
There are playthings around as well as a cat rails along the ceiling where people cannot reach.
It was clear that the staff loved the cats and were loved back, anytime they came in the cats would go to them for cuddles.
Only 4 stars though since they let in a lot of cats at once (seemed too many for the space) and once more people came in, it was quite crowded and the cats choose to go up to the ceiling.
While it is good that the cats can get out of reach when they want to, I think it would be even better if they had a room they could retreat to since it got quite noisy after more people arrived. They had also set up a christmas tree that one of the cats kept trying to eat.
Recommended to arrive early since we had the cats to ourselves the first half hour or so and they arent so...
