Food is good, I mean it was great and that is the most important in rating a restaurant. So, this place has done a great job and I give them a 5-star rating. Here are some negatives, I know it is an izakaya joint, but even if that under consideration, the noise level of some guests were like that of RCA clubs. The interior is cozy, but not the vibes... And finally, the big negative is that the servers are obnoxiously pushy and have no idea of accomodating customer needs without his or her taste palette or preference.
My favorite is anything with crab, kept insisting on lobster which I never like. It's like she is just pushing for the most expensive item on the menu. If I I like lobster in general, I'd take that recommendatiom. But I said that's not my thing, if so, please stop. Didn't want the meat menu, coming to the seafood-expertise joint, kept recommending Wagyu menu and I said I ain't wanting that. Again, just pushing for the most expensive menu without concerning my taste palette or preference or what I'm craving for at the moment. Was looking for cold udon or soba, a real basic minimalistic one, and about to order it and kept recommending with whole lot of tempuras, again just the most pricey one on the menu and I am not a huge fan of fried food to begin with. Wanted a sorta Cali roll, and started pushing for scallop pasta or stir-fried noodle that is nothing to do with Cali roll category. Once again, another most pricey one on that menu page.
It's not like I want to stay cheap or being a cheap and picky customer. Food and dine out is my biggest budget and I always stay really generous, open-minded when it comes to food ordering, spending, tipping, etc. Fyi, I ordered 6 different dishes, so it wasn't staying cheap occasion at all. I've been to loads of decent or great eateries all around the world and Bangkok, and I think I know what pleases typical customers like me and the way the servers trying to upsell like that is truly obnoxious. The servers 1. Had no interest of what customers like; 2. Never listened to my craving or ingredient preference; 3. Vaguely somewhat lied(?) about drink promotion; 4. Upselling in a totally different ingredient or food category... Upselling works when staying in a same or similar category within a small stretch, not like you came to buy a pair of trainers but recommending a smartphone...
Again, food themselves were fantastic but the servers' vibes ain't aligned with the...
Read moreI liked the food at the Earth Ekkamai branch of the restaurant, but I got really bad service during three of my four visits there, and I will not return. During my second visit, the four servers gathered close to where I was sitting and trying to relax, and they chatted very loudly for 20 minutes, destroying the peace and quiet I went there to enjoy. On my next visit, the server totally forgot to even bring me a menu, even though I was one of only three customers. The last time, the server forgot to bring my appetizer with the beer. When I asked her about it, she mumbled "oh, otoshi" in a cynical, dismissive manner, and never apologized. When I tried to calmly and politely explain the consistent problems with the service, after I had paid my bill the last time, the seeming manager basically ignored me. When I wrote to the company about this, some unnamed person replied to me by apologizing, but offering no compensation at all. When I asked why nothing was offered to me, she or he begrudgingly offered a mere 10%, which is basically insulting, given that this is an expensive restaurant. It is not in any way a real Japanese restaurant. No Japanese establishment would treat...
Read moreSince the renovation of this entire building, the area has become much nicer and more presentable, and the new Japanese restaurant is no exception. The layout of the place is well thought out, with lovely outdoor seating and a very pleasant indoor ambiance for dining. It is ideal for both group outings or even a romantic date. One of the highlights is the chef station, where you can watch the chef prepare your food.
The service at this restaurant is top-notch, with attentive staff who are always ready to assist. However, do keep in mind that it can get crowded during weekday dinners, as it is located in an office building.
The menu offers a wide range of options, from full meals to snacks for those looking to enjoy a few drinks. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of food you receive. Overall, this Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem in the renovated building and is definitely...
