Nene Korean BBQ Buffet — Restaurant in Din Daeng Subdistrict

I was there with a friend who missed Korean BBQ and wanted to eat there. She likes fat pork meat, so she ordered the 299 THB menu. I cannot eat fat meat, it makes me throw up. So I wanted to order the simple buffet for 199 THB, just eating rice and other nice things available there. The waiter absolutely refused to let me order the smaller menu, even though I explained (in good Thai!) that I cannot eat fat meat, but also do not want to let my friend eat all alone. He said we have to order the same, like he distrusted me and thought I wanted to secretly eat the pork for a lower price.

I was shocked and quite angry! I have never experienced anything like this in my life before in restaurants around the world. I explained to him that I am a customer, not a beggar who wants anything for free, and that I want to decide what to eat, if I pay a lot of money for it. Where in the world does the waiter decide what the customer has to order?!?

Because I did not want to order the 299 THB menu, if I only eat the 199 THB food, I decided to order nothing. My friend was very sad she had to eat alone and I also felt awkward. It was a horrible evening for both of us.

What a stupid business policy, to rather lose money than to let the customer order what he wants. It is ridiculous! I will never ever in my whole life go to any of the Nene BBQ branches and waste my time and money on them, because they abuse...

I’ve always been quite picky, especially when it comes to the food service industry, but this place genuinely impressed me. The variety of dishes offered was excellent, and the flavors were spot on. I was particularly pleased with the generous cuts of meat available for grilling.
