Baan Mai — Restaurant in Kamala

Two weeks in Thiland every meal at a new place. Until now, as this is my second meal here because I have not had as good of a food as I did here. Pad Thai is to die for, and so is Ginger and mushroom chicken! The amazing taste, ambiance, service and value in my humble opinion is unmatched in Kamala and possibly all of Phuket. This is now a standard by which I will judge every meal for the rest of the trip. Editing my review... I am now officially addicted to this place. Tonight tried Garlic pepper chicken with vegetables and rice, husband ordered Pa Nanga with seafood both were so good we are going back tomorrow to see if they make anything we wouldn't like. The owner is a darling Frech man super friendly and funny, his wife a lovely Thai lady who waited on us was so sweet and patient with us, even their cat came by with her two kittens to say hello. Pizza was OK but clearly all store bought. The base, the sauce, and the cheese are from Makro, but at least it was cooked properly in a fire or gas oven, so it was not white at the bottom (like other places that cook their pizza in an electric oven which does not work for pizza) and the crust was crispy. Massaman was ordered to be with strong and spicy flavor but it was so so so sweet, the beef was chewy, and the curry didnt have peanuts, which is a main ingredient in the massaman, and was not topped with the crispy fried shallots as it should be. Fried chicken wings were fine but with a very very basic seasoning of just salt and maybe a bit of pepper. In general I would say the food is fine but not exceptional. 100/100 would recommend. Service was super friendly and prompt. The restaurant seemed rather eco-friendly with interiors made mostly of bamboo which was very nice. Food was served in rather decent time and was really delicious. Great little establishment opposite to Cafe Del Mar and few meters from Radisson resort.
