I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shishitei and the overall experience was absolutely fantastic. From the moment I sat down, I knew I was in for a treat. The star of the show was undoubtedly the sukiyaki. The thinly sliced, beautifully marbled beef was of exceptional quality, promising a melt-in-your-mouth experience. It was served alongside a vibrant array of fresh vegetables, including various mushrooms, greens, and shirataki noodles, all perfectly prepared for the hot pot. The process of cooking the beef and vegetables in the rich sukiyaki broth was delightful, and dipping the cooked meat into the fresh, beaten egg yolk was simply divine – adding a silky texture and delicate sweetness that complemented the savory beef perfectly. Beyond the sukiyaki, the meal offered other exquisite dishes. The oysters, artfully presented on a bed of ice with straw, were topped with glistening salmon roe, a delicate piece of lemon, and a vibrant yellow flower, making them as beautiful to look at as they were to taste. There was also a visually stunning dish of what appeared to be beef tartare, adorned with salmon roe, a quail egg yolk, and edible gold flakes, showcasing the restaurant's attention to detail and premium ingredients. The service was attentive and gracious, with a staff member even assisting with the sukiyaki preparation, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. The ambiance was pleasant and inviting. In summary, this was a truly exceptional meal. Every dish was a testament to quality ingredients and skilled preparation. I highly recommend Shishitei for anyone seeking an unforgettable Japanese dining experience. It was, without a doubt, "delicious to...
Read moreMe and my husband came here for sukiyaki. The meat quality here is as good as other reviewers have claimed in the past reviews.
However, I must deduct the score for how our sukiyaki was being served. The problem we found here is the staff here doesn't seem to have much knowledge about balancing the serving.
If only the chef or the owner here pays more attention to train their staff to improve the sense of serving sukiyaki, it definitely will elevate the restaurant's status. Because of this, apart from the meat quality, I don't see any difference between here and other sukiyaki restaurants.
Other than sukiyaki, I would highly suggest Gyukatsu and their tsukemono which I think it's the knock out !
UPDATE 28 Aug 22 I revisited the restaurant again and surprisingly, I saw some improvement. The food quality is as high as it's always been. Thank you for listening to your customer's...

The sukiyaki is the star of the show – a true rice stealer. The beef is top-notch, melting in your mouth with zero effort. The fact that the waiter cooks it for you and ensures everyone gets equal portions is a nice touch.
