Tucked away in Ekkamai, Best Country Beef Steakhouse completely surpassed my expectations. While I personally feel that serving water should never be chargeable, the minor service quibble paled in comparison to the sheer excellence of the food.
The meal began with a complimentary starter of freshly baked garlic bread - perfectly crisp on the outside and fragrant with butter and garlic. Then came the star of the evening: a 399-gram premium ribeye, cooked flawlessly to medium doneness. The beef was tender, juicy, and full of natural flavour, complemented by sautéed vegetables and grilled garlic on the side. Two sauces were provided - a black pepper sauce and another that was honestly forgettable - yet the steak needed neither. Just a sprinkle of salt elevated it to perfection. The meat melted in my mouth so beautifully that I almost teared up at its quality.
Next was the smoked duck grape salad, which surprised me in the best way possible. I am usually indifferent to smoked duck, but this version changed my mind. The warm, juicy duck paired brilliantly with the sweetness of grapes, giving the dish a lovely balance of flavour and texture. It was elegant, refreshing, and truly satisfying.
The spaghetti bacon aglio olio might appear simple in photos, but it was anything but. Spicy, flavourful, and cooked al dente, the noodles carried a punch that made each bite addictive. The bacon added depth and aroma, turning this humble dish into one that I could happily slurp to the last strand.
At 2,928 baht, the meal was worth every cent. Best Country Beef Steakhouse may not yet be widely known, but it deserves far more recognition. With minor improvements such as offering complimentary ice water, it could easily rise to the top of Bangkok’s dining scene. For now, it remains one of those rare finds where every dish leaves you genuinely happy - and craving to return.
I will reserve the 5* rating till my next visit, hoping to see this thoughtful touch added to an otherwise exceptional...
Read moreI was looking for some high quality beef, and a quiche Google came up with a pretty good rating.
Took a grab vehicle there and was greeted by the friendly lady staff, during that time the brisket wasn't available and had to settle for a smoked rib instead.
While we were waiting for the beef to be prepared, the server presented a basket of garlic bread which was wonderfully done and seasoned, not overly garlicky and the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
My order of fries that came up next was bland and lacked character, we took a few fries and decided to better leave it alone before it messes up our taste buds.
Finally, my beef l rib came, wonderfully smoked, and I was surprised that it managed to get smoked in such a short period of time, as I was earlier presented with 2 selections of ribs which were very frozen. And the next 15 mins the rib is on my table.
For what it's worth, the smokiness of the rib is on point, but it lacks the freshness and the meat does not fall off the bone kind of quality I'm going after, and the amount of meat on it is pretty minimum, but here comes the part where I felt was the deal breaker, the bone is still cold and part of the meat is still cold, no wonder I was thinking how come the meat is not as warm or hot, moreover the Aircon inside there was not really switched on too, and should not make the meat cool down so much.
Nevertheless, with such a small portion of meat to bone, I decided to leave it as it is.
Although they do offer a glass of red wine for Google review, I rather decline their offer and write a totally unbiased review of my experience.
My suggestion is to give this place a skip if you do not wanna any disappointment in your meal. And I suspect the smoked rib is pre smoked and cooked and was just sous vide to make it come up to temperature before serving. Do correct me...
Read moreHigh Expectations, Disappointing Reality We came to the restaurant looking for a quality steak experience and a pleasant atmosphere for dinner. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing and did not meet expectations, especially considering the price.
The Food: We started with two salads, both of which showed a lack of attention to freshness and ingredients. In one salad, the avocado was completely hard (to the point of being inedible), and in the Caesar salad, the lettuce was wilted and not fresh. For the main courses, the steak, which was ordered medium-well (MW), arrived burnt and dry. The ribs were passable ("okay"), but their flavor was completely covered by a cheap-tasting, industrial-style barbecue sauce, which made it impossible to enjoy the taste of the meat itself.
Atmosphere and Service: Throughout the entire meal, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. When we mentioned this to the staff, we were told, "There's nothing we can do about it." This is not the level of service or the conditions expected from an establishment that charges 1,000+ THB for a steak.
Price and Value: The final bill was around 3,000 THB for two salads and two main courses. This high price in no way reflects the mediocre quality of the food, the lack of fresh ingredients, and the unpleasant atmosphere.
Conclusion: We came based on positive reviews, but in hindsight, we noticed several reviews mentioning that the restaurant offers incentives (like a glass of wine) for writing a positive review. This might explain the large gap between the average rating and the reality we experienced. Not...
