The Galaxy (Restaurant and Bar) — Restaurant in Ko Lanta Yai

The Galaxy Restaurant and Bar is a very cozy place and gives an authentic feel because of the reed roof and all the green.

Let's start off with some positives:

As I already said, the place itself looks very green, local and gives you a cozy feeling. My fried chicken was delicious and it was a good portion. My girlfriend loved her burger.

There were unfortunately a couple things that I disliked:

The amount of fries are a very, very small portion. I think the smallest I ever had in a restaurant. They tasted okay but a little blant, even with salt. They were also not even hot, more like room temp. The waitress ( wife of the owner ) wasn't really paying attention to us unfortunately, probably since it was 6 pm and we were the only customers. When we were done eating we had to wait about 15 minutes before we could order something else because she was sitting down behind the bar.

Afterwards we realised both us and the owner were dutch so we talked for a good 5 minutes about Thailand and he was nice. But I will still be honest with the review.

Came up from Klong Nin beach. Dined in Galaxy as it was highly recommended and we was not disappoined. The Thai food was some of the nicest we had eaten on the island. My son had the steak which was the only properly cooked steak we had all holiday. The female owner makes sure you understand, if you order something hot, then it will be as the Thai people eat it...HOT! Even though this restaurant is on the busy built up main road, it don't feel like it as you are surrounded by trees and greenery. Whilst my son watched the football across the road and by daughter threw water at cars (as it was Songkran), I first had time to talk to the Thai owner who is a really warm, beatuiful and friendly woman and then had a beer with the Dutch other half. One of the best nights I had...

Without a doubt one of my best memories on 10/12 trips to Thailand; having a last drink in this place (November 2024), with dozens of frogs for company, a perfect setting, bamboo and peace. Small fountain on the table, a cat asking for cuddles, perfect background music and an absolutely perfect owner: the grace and kindness of Thai people; smiling, welcoming, friendly. We loved you very much; you are a very beautiful person, you run one of the last bars/restaurants just before paradise. Please; continue; you offer happiness. You are essential to Thailand.
