The Kitchen — Restaurant in Ko Lanta Yai

After driving past this place six times due to the pouring rain and not being able to see it I finally was able to Spot It

I was seated in the courtyard next to a citronella candle which I was happy to be next to it because I didn't want to get bitten by mosquitoes because I figured of the rain they would be inside .

The waiter which I recognized from the Google image greeted me with a pearly white smile and natural smell

He gave me a menu and boy I was astounded because it was so thick

The pictures look very realistic and it was written in Thai along with English. I decided to try their glass fried noodle with chicken as you can see in my photos

I also tried as an appetizer their deep fried chicken with a zesty duck sauce on the side

I'd highly recommend this place even in the pouring rain. I don't have room for dessert as I want ice...

What a lovely experience. Fabulous food with many of options (meats, vegetarian, or vegan), friendly English speaking swift service, relaxing and modern atmosphere that uses all the good nature materials and styles that the island has to offer. I paid 260 THB for a vegan green curry with steamed rice, a house made lemonade with lemon, and a traditional Thai desert (beautiful and delicious). The only downside (probably during the busy day) is that its located at the main street. As I had dinner the traffic was slow and the nice background music was able to fill the place with additional atmosphere. I will not be surprised if this place will turn out to be one of the go-to restaurants on the island - even if you don't have sand under your feet...

Amazing food! We ate here a couple of times but also tried other places on Ko Lanta - while there are quite a few with good food, the 'Kitchen' generally has the best we've tried. The Pa Naeng being the absolute highlight. Also Massaman & green curry are very, very good. The chicken satay appetizer and lots of other dishes were quite a delight as well. Another highlight are the cocktails which are prepared with lots of love by the barkeeper. The Mai Thais he prepares are the best we've actually ever had!

As someone posted regarding vegetarian dishes: in the menu most dishes are not specifically marked for a vegetarian option, but they will prepare pretty much any dish either with tofu or just with vegetables... We had amazing vegetarian...
