Tiw Lay Restaurant — Restaurant in Ko Lanta Yai

Terrible food, aggressive owner We were there as a family and were served a fish that was obviously far beyond edible. We returned it to the kitchen, finished the other dishes that were ok. When the bill came , we fefused to pay for the fish. First the female manager came and started yelling at us right away, in a manner i never experienced anywhere before , especially not in Thailand. Finally she said we dont need to pay but should never come again which was fine with us. Then the owner (?) showed up , asked me to fight with him on the beach, grabbed my fathers wallet and kept insulting us. Then he threw the wallet back on the table , ran to the kitchen and came back at me with one of these huge kitchen knifes. I ran away, staff held him back, my father paid while being i sulted and threatend with the knife. All this in front of an audience of about thirty tourists... not...

I can HIGHLY recommend this beautiful place for a lunch or shake in the afternoon or for a wonderful dinner in the evening.

In the afternoon we had a shake and a pad Thai. It was so delicious that we came back in the evening and had a great dinner in a beautiful atmosphere 🤩😉 the food was delicious and the owner were so nice and offered a great service.

On top it is very cheap. The shakes were 50 THB, pad Thai 80 THB, Massaman Curry (120 THB), papaya salad (80 THB), Satee chicken was about 80 THB. The fried mango as a dessert was also absolutely delicious!! 😃

Unfortunately we just found them yesterday and we are leaving today. Otherwise we would have come again for many more times 🙏🏼

Great rustic beach restaurant with plenty of shade, great food and good prices. If you don't have a problem with the occasional ant on the worn bamboo tables and you just want decent food directly on the beach, this is your spot. The Panaeng curry (THB 100) was amazingly creamy with thick chunks of onion, freshly cut red chili (not too spicy) and fragrant lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. The burger looked decent too, if for some reason you need a change from Thai food. The small Chang beer (which I had to pay for separately for some reason) was THB 60. Service was friendly, quick on their feet and understood...
