If you are looking for value, Raven Blue checks all the right boxes. It is really a hidden gem. The rooms are no frills, but also it's more than enough. The AC takes a few minutes but it gets the job done. The mosquito nets weren't needed when we visited in March, for all I know they are just for show. The bungalows have pretty nice concrete handiwork. It has it's own private court yard and each room has a patio with a table and chairs, drying rack, and hammock. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the electric shower gets the job done. There's also a TV with thai channels, but they are mostly for shopping. They offer a laundry service, basic breakfast (I would just devour the big plates of fresh fruit that they bring you and maybe some toast. Perfect.), and they have relationships with the bus companies that ferry you to and from krabi, taking the stress out of all that nonsense. They also partner with a scooter rental company. You can rent for as little as 200 baht per day. We went that route and were happy with our beat up little scoopy. The walk to the beach is about as short as it gets, and there's a pretty cool bar with tapas and drinks when you arrive at the beach. The bar mostly caters to 20-30 somethings. It's just a perfect little setup if you're a young traveling couple that doesn't need to be bathed in luxury. The guy that runs the desk has excellent English and is so friendly, helpful and laid back. The other staff is also all smiles. Sometimes you can hear parties from bars/hotels, but they're not even as loud as the birds or the barking geckos, and you can't get away from those no matter where you go. Beds were firm as is typical in Thailand. Unless you're ridiculously picky, you won't really notice. The room also has a mini fridge. They have a drinking water dispenser by the front desk so we would just fill a couple big water bottles full and stash it in the fridge. Overall, this place has everything you need and a few things you dont. Best value...
Read moreStayed five nights. One night had some loud music nearby, but was not enough to keep us up, and the other nights were nice and quiet. The road to the beach was a little dark at night, but was not a big issue with cellphone flashlight, and the beach was quite nice. Breakfasts were good and similar each day (fruit, eggs/veggies, pancakes made fresh). Mattresses were comfortable and good AC. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly each day. Staff was friendly and nice. Bathrooms had a smell during the heat of the day, but it came and went and is common for many places in the area I have heard. Majority of road restaurants were maybe 5-10 minute walk, or beach restaurants were a little less. It was an overall...
Read moreGreat value for price. Great location just by the beach. Nice hammock setup for every room, and great wifi, really good to work remote from especially the lobby area which is multi hundred mbs. Nice breakfast but does become a bit boring after a few days, I'd suggest they add some Thai options like fried rice. Overall a great place to stay, only complaint would be the high level of mosquitos in the room, upon checking in the room already had 10+ , luckily they do give a mosquito net and you do need to use it. Not sure if spraying could solve that situation, but I'd suggest give free mozzie coils to guests or bug spray. Overall though for around 1000 baht a night this place is...
