We went here based on the positive reviews about the owner and the food. Ended up completely disappointed. The food was average - good portion size but more or less tasteless. The worst part though was the service - we were the only couple at the time for dinner, we were greeted with a cold attitude which remained for the duration of the meal. We weren’t asked how we wanted our meals cooked in terms of spice (something I’ve come to expect in Thailand) and when I asked for some chili I was only brought chili flakes. Again, expectations were fresh chili and vinegar as a compliment to be provided but not here. I politely asked for some fresh chili which seemed to be a hassle for the owner. This is Thailand?!? We finished our bland meal and asked for the bill - the whole time no smiles or interaction from the owner. He brought back the change dumping it on the table without even looking at me. I took offense to this and explained to him how disappointed I was with the service saying I had chosen the restaurant based on the reviews of good service. Please try to smile and interact with your customers because there are many other restaurants on the island - of which I’ll be choosing next time and I encourage anyone else to do. Worst service I’ve had in Thailand so far. Complete...
Read moreA small, cozy joint with a very friendly owner. It’s been a little quiet lately, probably because of the off-season. I dropped in during lunch and we were the only guests; passed by again at dinner and it looked the same.
We ordered a few dishes: • Thai Basil Chicken – decent, but the basil wasn’t fresh. Fresh basil would’ve lifted the whole dish, especially at the price point which is slightly higher than nearby places. • Yellow Noodles with Shrimp – fresh, tasty, and a hit with my kid. • Penang Curry – came out watery and the flavor didn’t land. The raw onion left a sharp aftertaste that didn’t sit right. • Chili with Soy – something was off, either the chili had gone bad or the soy wasn’t right.
I visit Thailand often (every couple of months) and eat Thai food across different regions, so I’m familiar with how things should taste. This might just have been an off day for them.
Overall, it’s a cozy little restaurant with a welcoming owner. I’ll give it another try to see if things are...
Read moreJust had lunch here with my wife. There was loud construction outside, which wasn’t anybody’s fault but did make for an unrelaxing atmosphere. I ordered red curry medium spicy and received a green curry. I love all curries so this wasn’t a huge problem except that I was really craving the flavor of red curry. I pointed out to the owner that I didn’t receive red curry and was surprised that he continued to insist it was red but just not spicy - also confusing because we had a conversation about how I like spicy when I ordered. This is not my first trip to Thailand and I regularly eat Thai food in NYC, so I know what red curry tastes like spicy or not. It was frustrating to be told that red curry sometimes looks yellow with a green tinge. To top off the experience, we were given change 100 baht short, which the owner didn’t argue about when we went...
