Mama's Seafood — Restaurant in Ko Yao Yai

This place looks amazing... on the beach... beautiful building. Staff obviously overworked, tired and seemed confused. After ordering food took over an hour to come out, waitress only waited 15 minutes before bringing bill over and standing waiting for me to pay whilst I was still eating. She got the idea I was eating and left only to return 2 minutes later and stand over me waiting for payment whilst I was quicky trying to hurry up and finish my food. She made me feel very uncomfortable and I asked her if I could please finish my food before payment and would come over when finished. She then went and sat within distance with another lady, starring at me talking loudly. I felt once again very uncomfortable and disappointed that this was the experience I was having in such a beautiful setting. We sat down at 8.10pm, were told had lots of time to eat, there were four tables with people that had finished their food, why weren't they sorting them out and leave us to last. Very disappointing experience, not something have had before after many visits...

We’ve been 3 times : first time, at 2pm they told us it was 1hour wait for the food so we just took 2 smoothies , and they gave us one wrong (mango instead pineapple). 2nd time at sunset time, it was beautiful. Come before 6pm to avoid the crowd. They sell beers even if it’s not on the menu. We’ve ordered pineapple fried rice with chicken (it was average) and club sandwich (not bad) . Then we ordered a chicken pad Thai that never came , the waiter came twice with fried rice. And then when we were leaving the pad Thai was ready … 3rd time , always with the same waiter, at 1:30pm we ordered a pad Thai that never came because “he forgot” . So if you want good times near the beach with a sunset view you can go there if you don’t bother not having your order ! Or wait for hours. We gave 3 chances to this restaurant … finally we go in the small smoothie shop next door in the street for 50baths and we’ll go somewhere else to eat ! Maybe by ordering fish you’ll have...

Poor service over and over, like others we gave this place 3 chances as the food was good with decent sized portions. First visit : good experience apart from the hour wait. Second visit: waited 2 hours, with food coming at different times. Third visit : (several days later) 1 main and rice arrived 10 mins after order, we decided to share, second main came after we had finished, starter did not arrive until all other food had all gone!! Up until third visit food had been good, chicken and rice dishes were excellent, my husband ordered squid which was much too salty, our starter ( or in our case our end course) was fried prawns, they arrived looking wonderful, only on eating did we find they were 90% batter, with tiny little prawns in the middle. On politely mentioning this to the young waiter, he turned very rude and said they were battered prawns and walked off. Will not be giving them a...
