We went for dinner at bougainville pizzeria while our stay at krabi in the month of August 2018. We specifically checked before going the timings of the restaurant, and it said on their google info page that itâs open till 11:30pm, so we entered the restaurant at 10:30pm. We were a group of four friends and the only customers at the time. Upon receiving the food we asked our server if we could have some chilli oil or chilli flakes or oregano or tobasco since we are group that enjoy spicy food, to which we got a very hostile response that â we donât have any this is an Italian restaurantâ. Now we have travelled to several places across the globe and eaten at several many Italian restaurants, and never have we been treated as though we are culturally unaware. You can politely tell us, that you do not have those, and it would have been no problem. However, we respected the authenticity of the restaurant and continued to eat without any discussion or disappointment or argument. My friend who had ordered a spaghetti got too full, and decided to get the rest of the spaghetti packed. Before we could convey this to the server, the chef noticed that my friend isnât eating and himself marched to our table and started to behave in a very hostile fashion. He spoke to us in a very rude tone and said â you have problem with my food? You tell me! â . At this point we were all confused that why would he take it personally if someone is full and wants to not eat. Itâs our own free will as to how much we eat out of our plate and doesnât give the chef the right to walk to the customers and talk in this tone. Still to this we responded that the food is excellent, all is good. Thank you! And he went. Next me and another friend ordered a pizza. Usually pizzas are either cut into slices out of the round pan so that you can pick a piece and eat. Or they give you a pizza cutter or a sharper knife. We were not able to cut the pizza since it was not already divided into pieces and we were struggling with the knives since they werenât sharp enough. I called out the server asking for a sharper knife or a pizza cutter, and to our surprise the chef himself again waltzed to our table, grabbed the knife and folk from my hand in a very angry, rude and hostile manner and started to cut the pizza like a butcher with so much anger I was actually scared to utter a word and alongside this he says â you see you take a knife, and a folk and you cut. How difficult is that?â. We were so shocked, appalled and insulted by this entire episode that we never ordered a dessert or another glass of wine or any other dish. We just finished our meal and got the rest packed and left. Never in my 27 years of existence have I ever experienced such a horrible treatment at a restaurant. The chef and the staff really need to understand that you cannot treat a customer with such hostility. If itâs the end of the day and youâre tired, you should deny the service. We stayed in krabi for 6 days and ate at so many restaurants and had such a wonderful time. But we never went back to this place and I will not recommend any one to eat at this restaurant. Itâs a shame that someone being in service industry would treat a customer in such a horrific fashion. We were scared if we asked or said anything, the chef might lose his temper on us so we finished and left the place as quickly as we could. We are an educated, well traveled bunch who have eaten at Michelin starred restaurants, but this attitude from the chef and this utterly dispiteful behavior is not tolerable and...
Read morePizza was not bad per se but bland. Each person has different expectations and I am too used to pizze in Rome and down South to have an unpassionate opinion so I'll just say it : I did not like it enough to go back. The ladies there are polite, but there was a guy behind the counter kneading dough who never even smiled or said hello : definitely not what one expects from an Italian beach restaurant. The venue is lovely but with Buddha paintings (in Thailand not the most respectful choice since for decoration, and seen a thousand times). The menu is very basic : pizzas etc, pasta and 2 kinds of desserts with variation. Definitely not using the traditional herbs, spices and condiments that make carbs easy to digest in Italy, but I guess a thousand times better than any chain-delivering 'pizza' company = okay but not for me.
First of all I appreciated the warm welcome from the lovely and cute Thai wife of the owner. Not fake, as often happens, but a real genuine smile from the heart. Later ..... for Italian food lovers many choices of pasta, pizza, salads, sweets and home made ice creams. Everything is of very good quality and prepared with attention and love. The pizza in Napolitan style is simply EXTRAORDINARY. Wawawiwa ! Soft frame perfectly cooked. Very tasty and delicious with excellent ingredients. This is for sure the best pizza I have eaten in Thailand in 10 years. But Taiu', the Italian owner, was able to surprise me with a magic fried Panizza, a typical appetizer from his region. Superhigh WAWAWIWA !!! You have to try, it's home made by him and delicious. Pasta with 4 cheese was very tasty and ice cream delicious. I appreciated very much even the fact that every dish is abundant and rich, I mean the owner is not stingy, but generous. Good even the choise of wines in bottle or glass to complete a perfect Italian meal. At the end I want to remark the professionality, the attention, the love the owner puts in his business and the attentions and care he has for his guests. Simply exceptional ! I can only congratulate with him. Thank you for everything, we'll come back every time we are in Aonang. Last thing, Dylan the 2,5 years old son and PR manager of the restaurant is adorable with...
