Mama Kitchen — Restaurant in Krabi Province

From the whole stay in Thailand, Mama's kitchen had the best food consistently day after day. They have a great menu with photos of the meals and everything in English so it's easy to find your way around the menu. We tried different things every day and everything was perfect. We asked the owner why it is no longer advertised, he said that they are still overloaded with orders and barely have time to prepare everything because they prepare all the ingredients separately for each meal and pay attention to the output quality so that each meal is perfect. The meals are at the level of a top restaurant, the prices are very very low considering the quality (60-70 bht basic, 120-130 bht more complicated, and 450 bht Snapper fish which you should not miss, one of the best fish I have ever eaten). Excellent! Brilliant family run restaurant with the best Thai food!! We spent 10 days in Ao Nang and ate here every day, the quality of the cooking and the freshness of the ingredients was amazing… we practically tried half of the menu and everything was of the highest quality… the fish with Thai herbs and the 3 flavour sauce was next level, all the soups and curry dishes by far the best I’ve eaten, pad Thai exactly how I like it, perfect… too many dishes to mention here but the menu is extensive with lots of options including a large amount of vegetarian dishes too! And to top it off the service was great, very attentive and always with a smile. We were sad to leave and will certainly be coming back to eat here next time...

I don’t understand the amazing reviews. The food is not bad, but nothing special either. One could easily get better Thai food around. The portions are small and don’t expect the bulk of your food to come from the protein. It’s just enough to say that it has it. It makes sense given the very cheap prices, just adjust your expectations in that front.

The service is quite slow and unorganized. The food takes quite a lot to arrive to the table and not all dishes at the same time. One person could finish their dish before the other has even gotten theirs.

In summary, I wouldn’t go back to eat there, I rather expend 80 - 100 baht more and get a proper meal and service elsewhere. If you’re on a tight budget this could be a...
