This is my honest review about the bar. I am an Indian origin female, born and brought up in Australia. Back in December, I was having the best time of my teen life in Thailand, along with my other ‘white’ friends (sorry guys).
We came across this bar one night and the vibes looked quite good. As we were about to enter the bar, I was stopped and asked about my nationality. None of my other mates were asked this stupid question. I was caught off guard as I really didn’t understand why would someone ask me that question when looking for a table.
I asked the girl to repeat her question. And to my surprise, I had heard her correctly the first time. I said I was an Aussie and she didn’t believe me. I had to show her my passport to validate by citizenship. As this was witnessed by my friends all along, they asked me if I would like to go to another place, I did not want to spoil our mood, so I pushed on getting a table there itself.
Finally, ignoring what had just happened, we continued to take a seat, enjoy the music and place our orders.
Food was served and I found one long strand of hair. Yuck, yes. I reported this and asked for a new serve. I was very disrespectfully denied a fresh serve and a refund as well. They almost implied that I must have done this deliberately, to save money/ get more food.
This was IT for me, I felt really embarrassed and left.
I’ve lived in Australia all my life and no one has ever made me feel so little because of how I look. I’ve been to other countries and have never faced any kind of racism.
It took me these many days to finally gather some courage and write a review about my experience.
Looking at all the other reviews here, looks like they have a strict ‘no Indians’ policy.
I loved Thailand so much, but would never want to come back because of THIS particular BAR and their OLD MAN MINDSET.
I don’t care what the owner’s past experience with Indians was, it doesn’t give him the right to treat any human being on this planet this way. He really needs to educate himself about basic humankind and customer service. It’s not like I haven’t seen drunk guys with another nationality causing a menace in a public space - please grow up. I’m sorry mate, but you’ve ruined...
Read moreWe came to this place many times. It was low season so we were the only customers. However the staff stays sitting on their phone and you have to call 2 times to get a drink. Even after 5-6 days they are not friendly or welcoming tips seems not appreciated at all and when they decide to close you feel very much like you have to leave in a minute closing dans and moving chairs and tables even though you haven't finished your drinks or pool game. It used to be a nice place but we won't come anymore. This is rude and...
Read moreNice bar and even nicer owner! She noticed I was being attacked by mosquitoes and gave me one of her mosquito spray to help me out!
I ordered 4 drinks - 2 beers, Singapore sling, and a mango daiquiri and they were all really good! They also have a live band starting at 8pm :)!
Would recommend visiting after the Ao nang landmark...
