Maikhao Garden and Seafood — Restaurant in Mai Khao

Horrid. It’s the same owner that owns Mai Khao Garden & Seafood. They brought in elephants to draw crowd into their restaurant. The elephants are constantly swaying their heads and while most people might mistake as them ‘looking cute’, in actual fact they are in distress! We learnt on our trip through an elephant sanctuary we visited that they need to eat a minimum of 250kg per day and these elephants look severely hungry!!!! They were ‘pleading’ with their trunks and mouths for food. I urge you not to support this restaurant by dining there until they decide to stop this animal abuse. It’s lesser of a sacrifice on your part to eat at another restaurant nearby than the sacrifice these elephants are making for our ‘joy’...

Compared to many other local restaurants in the Mai Khao area, this one would rate lower due to portion size and quality of food. I would however rate drinks quite high compared to other local areas. There was a variety of choice. Service was sloppy and took ages for drinks to arrive! The main course arrived before the drinks and starters. Wasn't very professional but the staff were polite. Nice live music and outdoor as well as indoor air conditioned...

Living Room has a reasonably wide menu but specialises in Sea Food like Lobster, Crabs & Fish. With all seafood, you need to ask about the market price on the day. The staff are helpful and will inform you of various price options; eg compare market fish with local river fish or fresh fish. We ordered Lobster so our price average is a bit high. Also be sure to specify the level of spicy hotness you want. They have a live band playing most nights...
