I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life — not just in Thailand, but anywhere.
I was walking past this club and heard live music playing. I love bars with live performances, so I decided to check it out. As I approached the entrance, a man from the staff — possibly a security guard — stepped in front of me and blocked my way. I had no idea why.
He didn’t say a word, just tilted his head toward the drink menu displayed on a big board near the entrance. I asked what the problem was, but he continued standing there, gesturing toward the menu — clearly suggesting that I wouldn’t be able to afford a drink if I entered.
It felt like he judged me based on how I look — a young woman walking alone — and assumed I wouldn’t spend money in their bar. That’s not just rude, it’s insulting.
I turned around and walked just 100 meters down Walking Street, found another live music bar, and had a great evening there. I enjoyed the music, felt welcomed, and yes — I spent money. Because of course I can take care of myself and buy my own drink.
This experience was deeply disappointing. I’ll never go back to that place and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. They don’t treat you like a guest — they treat you like a wallet. And if you’re not what they expect, they don’t...
Read moreGood size beer bar with a decent cover band for a Thai bar. The band plays a mix of Western cover songs and Thai songs. Beers and drinks are priced on the high side for the area but the wait staff is attentive and quick. When paying a bill with a large denomination note, you are given a marker that states the amount that you payed with. This a nice touch to ensure you are getting treated fairly and receiving the correct change. This is a non smoking establishment which is nice and even though I am a smoker, it's nice to be in a bar that isn't filled with smoke. There is a smoking area in the front by the street side with stools and ashtrays. Good place overall and we would go again if we are ever...
Read moreI have been to Bamboo a number of times now, but never on my own. I think that if I was looking for some company, I might come here. It is fun to watch the older males (like me) interacting with the abundant female population. There is no reason to go home alone after a visit here.
The drinks prices are a bit high because of the live music but no different to similar venues in the area. The house band plays a good mix of Western and Thai songs. The women really come alive when Thai songs are played. The only let down for me is the lead male singer.
I love watching Isaan ladies dancing and having...
