Gian's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Pattaya City

Not impressed at all. The service level is high but it can’t compensate the underperformance when it comes to the food quality and authenticity. It’s overpriced and if I order something with beef at a high price level I expect to get beef not just a few crumbs. The clams were also so small that there was almost nothing inside. This is not a matter of taste but about a few simple rules for what is considered quality. A certain amount of quality protein/vegetables not just simple carbs.

We are close to the sea, if you can’t get good seafood here then where else can you? It’s just going for the cheapest option but charging premium prices. The same goes for wine. The house wine is already very expensive and they fill the glass way below what’s normal. So no I didn’t order a second glass when they asked me.

I think the people in Pattaya have very low standards if this restaurant get’s great reviews. My standard is not even that high. I’ve been in Italy often but everywhere in Europe I’ve eaten better Italian food. The restaurant has a nice setting (interior wise) so there’s a lot of potential.

Decided to test this place as my rented condo was nearby. I have been in Pattaya over 30 times but never here. The interior is nice and staff friendly. The place was almost empty on a Saturday evening but it is off season now. I had a beef carpaccio first, then vongole pasta and tiramisu last. I love Italian food but today the food was dissapointing. Carpaccio ok but nothing mindblowing for 480 baht. The real dissapointment was the pasta vongole as it should have a nice white wine and olive oil based sauce with lots of garlic. There was none in my case so it was not tasty nore there was no sauce to spoon off after the pasta and the calms. I have had much better vongole in the nearby Italian places along the same road. Restaurant should update their hours. Google shows they close at 11. I walked in at 9:52 to dine in but first needed change to pay my bolt. I advised the lady that greeted me that I would like to eat as well, she said they didn’t have change but I could go next door to sports bar to get change. Walked back in the restaurant at 9:58 and they said they were closed, though online it says they are open until 11. I was one guest dining alone. As a business you should do a better job of updating your hours to reflect your kitchen closes an hour before your restaurant and also try to be more accommodating considering the fault was on your side.
