We visit KERALA HOUSE aka INDIGO Restaurant about once every 3 months. We do so for a change of cuisine - something different to regular North Indian kadai and paneer foods one finds in every nook and corner of Pattaya ! We enjoy the coconut juice and tamarind flavours of South India.
The food is really tasty, the place is clean. But sadly thats where the positives end.
The serves are small and the chicken and mutton full of bones. It remains a mystery at Kerala House and Indigo Restaurant where exactly the meat goes to - if one is served up so much bone !!
After chewing mouthful after mouthful of chicken bone or mutton pieces packed with bones one is left aghast & disappointed at the horrible dining experience.
On this stretch of Pattaya - from Pattaya Tai upto Terminal21 - its not uncommon for a lot of Indian tourist traps to get away with food quality they would not dare serve in India. These tourist traps are looking for short term holiday makers, short term tourists who do not complain because they are on holiday - and accept the sub standard 'all bone' dishes in 'holiday spirit' - something Indians would not tolerate if these 'all bones' were served up in say Mumbai or Delhi or dare I say Kerala.
The mutton biryani will get you 5 tiny pieces of mutton. A proper rip off at THB 300 vs our good experience at 2 places nearby, where there was lots of meat and the price THB 220- for a mutton DUM biryani.
The prices one pays at Indigo /Kerala arr about THB 80- to THB 120- more than one pays at restaurants located in 'India Alley' (the crowded area around Nova Platinum).
Other food choices - At Kerala House the appams, kal dosa, idlis, sambar are good. We enjoy these.
'Goan Fish Curry' comprises 2 tiny pieces of fish. Forget about a hearty, fullsome meal. The rice or roti willneed to fill you. Not worth the price. Go to a Thai Seafood Restaurant if u want a generous & reasonably priced smorgasboard of seafood.
The masala dosa has a thin layer of potatoes. Even here - on potatoes - the owners...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDuring my recent trip to Pattaya, I had the pleasure of dining at the Kerala restaurant, and it was truly a delightful experience that left me savoring every moment. Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant was a haven for those seeking an authentic taste of Kerala's rich culinary heritage.
The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, reminiscent of a traditional Kerala home, with subtle touches of local art and decor that transported me to the serene landscapes of "God's Own Country." The staff was welcoming and attentive, ready to guide us through the menu and make recommendations based on our preferences.
Of course, the highlight of this dining experience was the food prepared by the talented Chef Abhi. As a Kerala native myself, I had high expectations for the dishes, and I'm pleased to say that Chef Abhi didn't disappoint. The menu offered a wide array of classic Kerala dishes,
What stood out was the option to customize dishes based on personal preferences. Chef Abhi was more than willing to prepare dishes according to individual tastes, whether it was adjusting the spice levels or accommodating dietary restrictions. This personalized touch made the dining experience all the more special and memorable.
The flavors in each dish were authentic, and it was evident that the chef used the freshest ingredients available.
In Pattaya was a memorable experience that allowed me to reconnect with the flavors of my hometown. Chef Abhi's culinary expertise and willingness to cater to personalized demands truly made this dining experience exceptional. If you're a fan of Kerala cuisine or looking to embark on a delightful gastronomic journey, this restaurant should undoubtedly be on your list of places to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first day in arriving Pattaya, we wanted to give Kerala meals to our little one. Found this restaurant while traveling to another place at night and decided to go the next day. The next day we reached at the lunch time. We were so excited that the chef Abhi is from Kerala and he also worked in Trivandrum before. We were literally amazed at the point where we got the food which we ordered. The quantity was massive and the taster was top notch. We ordered Kerala fish curry meals which had a lot of dishes like Kerala rice, sambhar, rasam, moru curry, king fish curry, pickle and a couple of other dishes. We also ordered the fish fry and prawns fry. The sambhar is the highlights among the dishes. We loved the food so decided to come back for dinner. At dinner we ordered idly and sambhar for our little one and appam and kadala curry for us. The Kerala chai is the best I had in Thailand. Thanks to chef Abhi for his wonderful food and the restaurant manager for his wonderful hospitality. Highly recommend for everyone who...
