A hidden gem located near the entrance of Le Meridien Khao Lak Resort. If you are looking for authentic Thai food which tastes as good as it looks, I would highly recommend this place! It may not be the most posh looking restaurant in the vicinity but their service and food are excellent. It was so good that we went back for dinner again on our last night. The restaurant is run by a middle aged couple and the owner is very hospitable and thoughtful. For instance, even though we ordered 5 plates of rice, he only served 3 plates knowing the portion is huge and told us to go with that first and let him know if we want more rice. This not only minimised food wastage but also helped us save some $.
Their young coconut drink, mango sticky rice, papaya salad, Tom Yam seafood soup, mixed vegetables are must-order items! Portions are quite big and food is generally tasty but not salty. Our meals also came with 2 big plates of complimentary fruits like mango, pineapple, watermelon and banana at the end. The restaurant is pretty chill and nostalgic with songs from Backstreet boys and Westlife playing in the background. Prices are really reasonable and affordable too.
If you don’t mind eating in the company of docile cats, dogs, chickens and sometimes wild boars appearing from their backyard looking for food, go check out this place and you...
Read moreWe tried most restaurants in the area over the course of 16 meals and Otto was one of our top experiences (along with Double Tree and Happy’s) and a place we returned to. A husband and wife run the place so like any other restaurant, service may be a bit slow if they’re busy as everything is made to order. We started with shrimp tempura and I had a version of shrimp stir fry and my boyfriend got something similar. And all was delicious! I do appreciate that they end your meal with a complimentary fruit plate. There is a TV there and the two times we went for dinner Muay Thai fighting was on. They provide hand wipes at the beginning of the meal and bug spray, although we didn’t find them to...
Read moreA nondescript and humble looking restaurant but serves very delectable Thai food. We came here for two different meals. On our second dinner, we had paneang curry, basil chicken, papaya salad, mixed vegetables, Tom yum soup, mango sticky rice. Service was slightly slow as their food were all freshly made when ordered. The basil chicken was quite unique as basil leaf was fried separately from chicken and used as a garnish. The most memorable dish for me was the mango sticky rice as it was warm when served and the rice was soft and fluffy. Free fruits were served with the meal, and even the fruits were of very good quality. Better and tastes sweeter than what you would get in the...
