During our 8 day stay in Khaolak, we wanted to try local restaurants nearby. Our 1st attempt was The Tonga restaurant. It was pathetic. We then looked in google for the restaurants with the best rating nearby(we were staying in hotel Grand Mercure). We found this restaurant with 5.0 rating and decided to give a try. Fantastic!. We felt so welcomed with friendly staff. Then came the owner, Den. He is such a nice person. Friendly and funny. Speaks english reasonably well. Food was so yummy and cheap too. Top quality, fresh and aromatic. Den doesn't compromise on quality. His wife is the main cook there. She is also a warm hearted lady. However we couldn't interact much with her since she had difficulties with english. We tried many dishes. All were splendid ! The location is great and neat. Directly on the beach with beautiful view of the Andaman sea. Clean toilets, though pretty simple. We liked this restaurant so much that we never tried dinner anywhere else during the rest of our stay 😀. We had such a nice time there every evening. Den's little daughter is so cute ❤. They also have a little Chihuahua called Mani. Very lively and all kids there had great time with Mani. Den treats his staff like his own family. It was so nice to see them all dine together as one family, every evening. We were also privileged to try some of their own dishes few evenings. Authentic Thai food eaten by the locals. It was mind blowing !. Though the spice levels were beyond our comprehension 🌶🔥😀. But the flavours and aroma were fantastic. Though I hardly wrote any google reviews on restaurants, I could write stories about this restaurant 🙂. On the Final day we received also a wonderful farewell from Den's family and staff. Simply great and thanks a lot. I recommend this restaurant to those who want to experience authentic and natural thai food and hospitality. No luxury, no artificiality, no greed...simply natural thai...
Read moreTL;DR go there whenever there's not much going on (especially no event in the back of the restaurant)
Great food, friendly staff, calm (country) music…
Except when a party is happening in the back of the restaurant 😅. We’ve been there multiple times for dinner. First, it was fantastic, then it was soso (probably because there was a family birthday party going on), and last, the service was bad (there was another party going on in the back). When we last visited, they told us about 30 minutes after we ordered that there were no spring rolls anymore. Well, it's funny that the table next by (which ordered after us) got their spring rolls after about 10 minutes. 🤷🏻♂️
By the way, ensure you bring cash (they don’t accept cards) and don‘t order a cocktail (they‘re not good, at least the Mojito we once ordered).
Overall, it‘s a decent place, and I‘m happy to visit again when the circumstances are...
