Very nice atmosphere, well decorated, friendly staff. Presentation on the dishes were very pretty. I ordered an iced coffee, which I enjoyed. Everything was going great...until the food arrived. For appetizers, we ordered chicken satay skewers. The chicken was dry. I enjoyed the satay sauce and the chilli sauce that accompanied the skewers. For mains, we ordered chicken pad Thai and a hot pan with Thai sauce. The server asked us for our preferred level of spiciness on a scale of 3 -our answer was 3 (very spicy). I specifically chose this Thai sauce hot pan as I am not fond of sweet and sour sauces and the listed ingredients for this Thai sauce on the menu all indicated a savoury sauce. Behold the mains -the pad Thai was passable, again, dry chicken. Slightly under-flavoured compared to surrounding restaurants. The hot pan, on the other hand, completely put me off. I saw pineapple in the sauce and immediately realized that this was NOT a savoury sauce. Still held out hope that it would be spicy, but there was not a single chilli in sight (despite the menu listing chilli TWICE as an ingredient). The sauce was NOT spicy. Not at all. We got the sweet and sour sauce. The server confirmed that it was indeed the Thai sauce but offered to have it remade. We didn’t have it remade, but asked for extra chilli on the side instead. Based on the high ratings for this restaurant, I will have to assume that my experience was just an...
Read moreSecond time in Thailand this week and first in Kao Lak. Came to Siam as good reviews and accommodated vegetarian adjustments. Been here twice slready (Sunday, Tuesday) and even with a downpour of rain the restaurant was full which tells you everything you need to know. Staff: Friendly, accommodating, and have obvious pride on food they are serving. Food: Great range. Between us we've had chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls, tom yung goon soup, prawn tempura, beef penang, papaya salad, green curry, pad thai, mango and sticky rice. All we're amazing. I would only add if sensitive to spice have papaya salad low rather than medium spicyness as medium more noticeable in the salad than the curries. Cost: very reasonable. Full meal plus a couple of beers for around £30 - £35 (1500 baht including tip)
We will likely come in for a third visit before we go ;) (Photo...
Read moreService was okay, they did their best. Food was average compared to other locals. The atmosphere was also fine; a bit noisy because of the customers and therefore it was hard to talk to - and understand your companions. The sauce from the “chicken with garlic and pepper sauce” was very oily and I didn’t really enjoyed the taste and therefore just ate the chicken, on the other hand the garlic fried rice was phenomenal and I would go there again just to devour this dish. The duck was crispy and delicious but also compared to other restaurants not as great. All in all it was a fine experience and it is always up to everyone if they like this servings or not. It’s just our personal opinion. What was outstanding was the fast service, they had a lot of customers and even if it was very busy the food was served very quickly and the staff was kind and grateful...
