You seem to have very selective process with your booking. Very complicated and lengthy procedures where we even had to pre-order food and make a down payment. Not even heard of such a thing in any of the many 5 star hotels here in HH and my wife and I have a collective hospitality experience of over 50 years!
We even had to be there by precisely 5pm because we were told that the food would be served at 5pm, be there or not! If 15 minutes late food will be packed for take away and table will be given away!
We arrived at 4.50pm, 10 minutes earlier and the food came out right away! Needless to say, it wasn’t really hot!
Only two other tables were occupied and the restaurant never filled up half the entire evening we were there! So, what’s the fuss…
Restaurant atmosphere: nothing special. Like any other seafood restaurant up and down the beach and with a view any other restaurant has as well. Table was extremely dirty and even more sticky, even after your staff cleaned the tables after we asked them to do it.
Food: really average! Much better restaurants up and down the beach with much more authentic Thai seafood that is tasty and spiced properly. Hor Mok, not much flavour and spices. Thickly cut kaffir lime leaves inside the mousse. Only plus; large crabmeat lumps but not seasoned. Crabmeat fried rice; no taste and I mean no seasonings, again, plus large crabmeat lumps. Fried sea bass; just a whole fish on a platter with a banana leaf on it. Very sweet sauce, no sliced green mango with shallot and chilli. Oysters; we’re ok. Big and plum River prawns; small size for the price with just some chilli dipping sauce, again, no decoration. Vegetables, stir-fried greens with egg; was ok. Those comments are coming from our Thai guests that have had worked in some of the best hotels and restaurants here in Thailand. Thailand is all about intricate little decorations and little fruit and vegetable carvings. Why not here?
Beverages; very limited, especially on the Thai no alcohol beverages which in any other restaurant you’re getting lots of it! They not even had a Namanau Soda only the one from Schweppes in a can!
Service; although friendly not very attentive.
Pricing, for the few dishes we had we paid around 4,500.- baht which is really very expensive for HH.
Today, we had a big lunch with the same people we came yesterday to your establishment and about double the amount of food for 1,500.-!?!? All really enjoyed the real Thai flavours and dices.
So, not sure what the hipe is all about the complicated and very difficult customer booking procedures. If you’re making it that complicated for customers to make a booking in your restaurant then at least provide high quality and authentic tasting food with a proper service. Then I wouldn’t mind paying 4.5k...
Read moreI dined at Aowtakiab Seafood recently, and its prime location right by the beach makes it a standout spot. The breathtaking ocean views create a stunning backdrop while enjoying your meal, adding a serene vibe to the experience. I ordered the squid, which was a highlight—perfectly tender yet crunchy, cooked just right. The prawns were another winner, incredibly fresh and flavorful, showcasing the quality of the seafood here. However, the papaya salad was a letdown, lacking the bold flavors I expected and feeling rather average.
One thing to watch out for is the pricing, especially with the prawns. Be sure to clarify the quantity with the staff when ordering, as the first option can be a single prawn for over 500 baht—a costly surprise if you’re not paying attention. Another downside was the flies buzzing around, which was distracting and took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere.
Overall, Aowtakiab Seafood serves very decent seafood with some standout dishes, enhanced by the gorgeous beachside setting. Just keep an eye on the menu prices and be ready for the flies.
Great seafood and views, but pricey portions and flies are a drawback and they don't accept...
Read moreSaw TikTok video recommended the place so we went to try it. The place is a rip off for 2 issues with my dinner there. 895baht for a crab meat curry dish with mostly vegetables covering the tiny crab meat in a small portion that is just enough for one person (ridiculous). Felt cheated for the menu of River prawn, it stated 5 with the price of 495baht but we just want to try one prawn and asked if we can just order one the waiter just reply with a yes. The river prawn was served and it was so small and taste was just normal. When the bill came, the small size river prawn was 495baht😡. We asked for the waiter and tell him the bill is wrong as your menu stated 5 river prawn for 495baht so how can a small size river prawn charge us 495baht. Waiter then pointed out the menu stated, 5 pieces (each) 495baht, the meaning of (each) is that each prawn is 495baht. I felt so cheated and misleading because if each prawn is 495baht, why use the word "5 pieces"? We didnt argue with that, but we will not come again as we felt rip off. So I am writing this to prevent others from...
