Overpriced, disappointing service and suspiciously inflated bill

I can’t tell whether other reviews here are real or not but this is our true experience. We experienced very kind and hospitable service everywhere else throughout our visit in Hua Hin except this one anomaly and felt we should warn others. Here it is…

We visited Chow Mong in the mid-afternoon when the restaurant was quiet, with only one other table finishing their meal. Despite this, service was extremely slow—it took 30 minutes just to place our order, another 30 minutes for the food to arrive, and drinks came much later. Unfortunately, no cutlery or napkins were provided, so we had to request for service.

The food was a mixed experience. The steamed rice arrived cold and dry, requiring a replacement. One dish was incorrect, and when the correct one eventually arrived, there was a long gap between servings. Food were too salty, the ingredients and presentation did not justify the high prices.

The most concerning part was the billing issue- a bill padded with four extra dishes we never ordered. The total was double what it should have been. When we pointed it out, the staff took the bill back without explanation. Ten minutes later, a corrected bill arrived—still no apology, just annoyed expressions.

Deliberate scam or gross incompetence? Either way, Chow Mong is not worth your...

The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere, it’s designed with love. The service was professional, sincere, and truly focused on creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for the guests and not just on selling.

We were served by Ford, who was incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered several bottles of water and rice for four people, but Ford immediately noticed it would be too much and kindly adjusted the order. In the end, it was absolutely perfect we couldn’t have finished more anyway.

The food was delicious, and the whole experience felt genuine and thoughtful. We were only passing through, but we will definitely make a little detour on our way back just to eat here again.

The first thing I noticed about the place were the salads. The put the utensils right on top of the them. That sounded an alarm bell in me for contamination. People touch the utensils and the utensils touch the food. That’s no different from grabbing the food by hand directly. I alerted the server there and she obediently complied by properly putting the utensils on the table. I was so glad they were opened minded and when I paid, I gladly paid the server a large tip. That was why I was shocked when I looked at the salad table again right before I walked out the door. They put the utensils right back on top of the salads! OMG, I will never go there again and I want my tip back! Did I eat the salads at all when I was there? Hell no even they removed...
