Chalong buffet — Restaurant in Rawai

Garbage! Rubbish! Super junk! Before I never so angry ❗ ️ see someone recommended since I was a child, then immediately came over in the evening. I had high expectations and thought the buffet would be great. But! 1 ⃣ ️ waiters spoke bad English 👎 and did not clarify the extra fee in advance. 2 ⃣ ️ extra consumption: we finally left only very little food, but they charged us with 300 baht more 👎. Even if we explained to them, there's a bunch of people standing around you demanding money. 3 ⃣ ️ disorderly price, as one waiter said 100 extra fee at first, later added to 200, and finally to 300. Is there anyone more shameless than that? 4 ⃣ ️ environment was very bad, no air conditioning and had mosquito a lot. Many dishes were not washed clean. 5 ⃣ ️ seafood was not fresh, not many barbecue choicea. The barbecue costs an extra 100 baht. Dining experience was very poor. The original price of 199 baht per person turned into 900 baht! You can get a lot of really good Thai food with this money. It's a waste of money...

You can find Thai buffets (mookata) throughout Thailand, they are extremely popular with Thais as they represent great value at prices of generally between 99 and 399 baht, depending if you opt for seafood or not, eating as much food as your belly can handle. To get the full value of the experience I would recommend having a Thai person come along to show you the ropes. As you cook your own food you are in control of your own experience. Providing the meat is fresh and you have some basic knowledge of cooking then you cant go far wrong. The Chalong Buffet is set in a rather industrial looking complex, as many of these mookatas are. We enjoyed our evening but to be honest if you have been to one they are all pretty much the same. Must add that the chocolate ice cream here is top shelf, delicious! This has got to be one of the worst meals we've tried in Phuket.

Self service, pick the ingredients you want Meat (chicken, pork) was tasteless with no marinade Seafood wasn't fresh (prawns, clams) Cooked food area had quite a good selection - we only tried the fried rice and nuggets which tasted... edible Redeeming thing was the soup base which gradually tasted better after adding seafood to it
