Outstanding service by Chef Num. My rating is not absolute but rather relative (as in comparing to competing restaurants in Phuket).
Food wise the price, especially right now, is really good. They are running 1300 THB omakase course.
Ingredients is combination of locally sourced fish and imported ones. The disadvantage here is that the cost of fish is higher than in Bangkok.
I wish they offer the more premium course that includes otoro and uni. I think the hotel is not used to price fluctuation when it comes to imported fish (where auction prices varies from day to day). I am a big fan of Japanese food and have eaten at over 20 Japanese restaurants in Bangkok and numerous restaurants in Osaka, Tokyo, Sapporro etc in Japan. The 18 course Omakase meal tonight was exceptional and easily one of my favourite Japanese dinners in recent memory. The chef produces fantastic sushi and a variety of creative dishes that exceed anything i have experienced in Bangkok. Food is carefully prepared and fresh. The chef takes a particular interest in feedback. We developed a trust with the chef and asked him to surprise us. We were not disappointed.
Drinks are artisan. There are a few cocktails that incorporate sake into the recipe - delicious. Check out their free flow happy hour. Our bartender was exceptional.
