Saying this is the best khao soi in Bkk is a claim too bold to make. So the next best thing is to say it's squeaked into my top 5 favorites in an ever expanding list of khao soi favorites.
The chicken drumstick was medium sized and cooked till soft as expected but the pork was maybe a little tougher than I prefer, though pleasingly crispy around the edges. The portion of soft cooked egg noodle and crispy noodle is not overwhelming, but adequate (unless you're a big eater). All this is secondary as far as I'm concerned because it's the broth that makes a khai soi special. This broth sells itself and reminds me of nonya chicken curry in color, appearance and richness though it's not quite as thick and without the heavy coconut fragrance. Comparing it to something I'm familiar with does it a great injustice though. On its own it is Superb, just Superb!
The restaurant seats no more than 2 dozen downstairs and appears to have a second floor dining hall which didn't look open since it was near closing time ( which is quite early at 8.30pm). They have a menu that's centered around their Khao Soi although it includes other Lana favorites with pricing that is not exorbitant even though it's in the popular...
Read moreI recently had a very disappointing experience here. The service was terrible from start to finish. The staff seemed completely uninterested in serving customers, spending most of their time on their phones and only paying attention to delivery orders. It felt as if they were trying to rush us out, and the air conditioning was so low it was hard to breathe. The only saving grace was the food itself, which was quite good. However, the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere completely overshadowed the decent meal. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant due to the bad service and unpleasant dining...
Read moreThe place looked promising, and even the broth seemed to have a good consistency and look, but the taste of the khao soi was not what a good khao soi should be. It lacked depth, seasoning and the meat was very chewy. We've tried over 10 khao soi restaurants and it's one of our favorite Thai dishes. Sadly, this place did not serve a good Khao Soi. We bought and tried their instant packed khao soi too and i think they should just scrap that product. It is a misleading product of what Khao soi really...
