A cozy gem on Convent Road (opposite BNH Hospital, comfortably walkable from BTS Sala Daeng)! Operating for 10+ years, Bistro di Farina offers a warm and festive atmosphere, perfect for our pre-Christmas dinner 2 days ago. The food is absolutely delicious, with reasonable prices to match.
I was particularly impressed by the concept of the Four Seasons pizza (Pizza Quattro Stagioni), which stays true to Italian tradition by using different ingredients to represent the four seasons of the year—such a creative and flavorful idea 🥩🫒🍄🥚🍕
There is also a parade of handmade pasta 🍝 selection which is a true standout, showcasing the skill and passion of the team. We appreciate that the staff friendly asked my friend to pick pastas, which is a very pro and nice gesture. Happily tried "Malloreddus (al Salmone e Vodka)" severed with a canister of ❄️🎅 vibes! This specialty pasta usually is rarely found outside Sardinia, Italy, celebrated for its unique shape and authentic regional flavor.
✨️ Another side reason why it is worth a try: The restaurant recently underwent a renovation in September 2024, adding new core kitchen facilities and tweaking their menu, which should really elevates the dining experience.
I noticed from the information outside that the bistro is owned by Chef "Pooky" who is a French culinary graduate. We can reasonably believe that Bistro di Farina masterfully blends French and Italian cuisines, offering a unique dining experience in Bangkok. The attentive and friendly staff, fluent in English, make the experience even better.
Fun fact: "Bistro di Farina" is a mix of French and Italian. "Bistro" is French, referring to a small, cozy restaurant."di Farina" is Italian, meaning "of flour," highlighting the importance of flour in Italian cuisine, especially for their handmade pizzas and pastas. This combination beautifully reflects the fusion of French and Italian influences in the restaurant's concept.
Highly recommend this charming spot for anyone looking for great Italian food in Bangkok! 🍕🍝🍷🎄🤍 I would love to come back to try some other interesting menu such as premium steak or Nutella pizza dessert 😋
🤓 Friendly suggestion: seems the glass behind the festive Christmas tree reflects some back office/kitchen facilities; adding a frosted film, some festive curtain or backdrop could make the tree's background more photogenic. It’s a small touch that could elevate the holiday ambiance! (Does not affect dining...
Read moreIt is a brightly lit restaurant.
The waitress leads me to a table by the clear window, which had an upscale feel without any stuffiness.
The menu offers a fusion of French and Italian cuisine, reflecting the owner's heritage. In the mood for Italian, I explored the front section of the menu.
I started with a glass of their house red wine as an apéritif.
For my appetizer, I tried their famous Caesar Di Farina, featuring lettuce, croutons, crispy bacon, and onsen tamago (Japanese low-temperature boiled egg). The bacon was a bit saltier than I prefer, but the onsen tamago balanced the flavors.
My main course was the Carbonara and Guanciale. This was perfectly al dente spaghetti. The crispy guanciale was slightly too salty. I added a side of spinach gratin, the highlight of the meal, even praised by the waitress.
Throughout, I enjoyed people-watching and see the rain droplets come down the window, creating a peaceful atmosphere. I ended with a delightful Lemon Meringue Pie and lemon sorbet that took my taste buds to another level.
The attentive waitress ensured a seamless dining experience, promptly clearing dishes and refilling as needed.
I highly recommend this intimate, reasonably priced...
Read moreFood was good the first time. Nice brick oven Pizza. Chef clearly much better than the front of the house staff. Second time was not as good experience. The waiter started off professional and than his poor attitude killed the experience. Not Thai but from the Philippines he explained. Wine by the glass was off and tasted like vinegar. That happens at times but when the waiter refused to acknowledge it and wants to argue about it it’s not the way I would want my restaurant staff to respond to any customer. It appeared the waiter was more concerned about closing the gates and turning on the vacuum cleaning to close and go home. Manager came and offered a free meal upon return. She said it would be the owners pleasure. We actually returned against our better judgement to be told that the manager not offer a meal but a 20% discount. That’s $6 off the bill. Rather insulting. Many other great Italian Restaurants to dine at with better experience. I guess If you take away or order out you will have...
