Not a 5 star hotel. Been to Bangkok many times, always trying out new hotels each time. But this is the first time I cannot accept the standard of a hotel in Bangkok. Service and rooms not on par with the expensive price paid. I will not be back to pay such premium price.

Firstly, we found the rooms dirty. Refer to pictures from leftover gunk by previous guests. Dirt left on kitchen table top that flowed into the dishwasher. Housekeeping bothered to refill the cleaning tablets but didn’t see the stain? Rice on top of washing machine. Next, no hand soap provided. Their bottle of body soap in the shower states “body and hand soap” so do you expect me to bring out the bottle to use when I need to wash my hands and then bring it back into the shower again each time? Thirdly, housekeeping not meticulous enough. Each time my towels get replaced, they only replace 4 towels when they cleared 5 towels. We have 5 people. Every time we come back, I will have to call guest service to bring me an extra towel. It’s irritating for me as well as the front desk that I have to keep requesting. They will definitely be thinking why is my room always calling and requesting for something. Fourth, I don’t know if sound proofing is an issue in this hotel. My children were not running around but were just playing in the bath tub. Front desk called to say our neighbor (not sure if it’s up or down or beside) complained that our room was too noisy. My children playing in the bath tub and they could be heard??? Amazing. We were staying in a 2 bedroom suite and they were in the master bathroom which was all the way in of a corner unit. Fifth, stated that shuttle service is every half hour. I assume obviously the service will be available every half hour then right? But no, we had to inform them at the lobby that we are waiting for shuttle service. 1pm and shuttle service did not start (we were at lobby waiting since 12.50pm), at 1.05pm I went to ask what time is the shuttle service exactly? Guy told me 1.30pm. I was already there before 1pm! I was like what?!?! I thought it was 1pm?? And he replied “oh ok 1pm” and then proceeded to call the driver…. Sixth, no greetings each time you come back to the hotel. Lastly, there’s only 1 safe in the 2 bedroom suite and it’s located in the common room instead of the master bedroom?? If we are not traveling with friends instead of our family, how could we share the safe?

Oh yes, and worse thing about the room, it gets too bright early in the morning at 6am! Refer to my pictures. I wake up before 7am every single morning because my room becomes this bright once the sun is up! What’s the point of black out curtains when the whole room still becomes this bright?

Before I booked, I was contemplating between this hotel and Somerset Sukhumvit Thong Lor. Guess I made a wrong decision this time. I thought paying a higher price, service standards would be much higher and I was staying for 6 nights so I wanted something more premium, but I was wrong. I should have went ahead with Somerset. And 1 more thing, their lobby and drop off porch is very small. Nothing compared to a 5 star hotel. We stayed at Eastin Grand Phayathai previously and lobby was huge, drop off area for the cars is also much bigger and luxurious. Door boys would also greet us when we arrive back at the hotel every single day - This is what a 5 star hotel should be like.

I should have researched more and read all the bad reviews before...

We stayed here for 2 weeks. The room was fantastic. Much bigger than what we were expecting which was a nice surprise, clean, modern, comfortable, and with a great view. Rooms were very sound proof for being close to such a busy road. Loved the gym and pool.

We were let down by the level of significantly inconsistent service, which is the number 1 reason we decided to book the last 2 weeks of our trip to Bangkok at another hotel instead of extending at the Ascott.

We gave our laundry before 10am as specified for express service to receive it back same day. It did not come back until 6pm the next day.

Things in the room weren’t replaced consistently. The laundry bag was never replaced after being used. Bath salts were replaced sometimes, and sometimes not. Guests shouldn’t need to call for replacement of things like this.

If Do Not Disturb is on, don’t call and ask if we want our room cleaned. We travel a lot and for such a long stay, housekeeping is not necessary everyday. We have rest days where we want to be left alone. A non-intrusive alternative is to leave a note for the guest that housekeeping came by but your DND was on - call if you’d like cleaning.

We would order coffee every morning through Grab. Some days we would get a call from concierge asking if they can bring it up to our room which we GREATLY appreciated and enjoyed when they did this. Most days though, they didn’t. It was confusing on why sometimes they would deliver to our room and sometimes they would not. Again, a lot of inconsistency in the service.

Service on the 9th floor was hit or miss. One evening we dropped in to grab a drink and waited for 10 minutes before someone showed up to the bar. The lighting is also way too bright there at night so we didn’t return during our stay other than to grab something to take back to our room. Not a great ambiance to sit and enjoy.

No welcome drink at check in, no welcoming feeling in general when you arrive at the hotel, no help with car doors, so much staff in the lobby and no one says anything to you.

These are things that matter in a supposed 5-star hotel that really impacted the quality of our overall stay, unfortunately. I don’t think we will consider this Ascott...

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on our stop over in Bangkok.

As soon as we arrived we were so impressed; the lobby was super inviting and modern. The staff were so accommodating, friendly and attentive to our every need during our stay. We stayed on the 32nd floor and the views of Bangkok from our window were just insane, we had a perfect view of the sunset and at night time it just felt magical! We could even see the Mahanakon Sky walk from our room which wasn’t far from the hotel which we ended up visiting ( would recommend if you like heights and a roof top drink! ) The room was spacious, we had all our luxuries with coffee/ tea, hairdryer and even the small details of supplying some extra toiletries ( my girlfriend really appreciated these ! ) The room felt very modern and was a comfortable place for us to catch up on some work ( as we work online ) whilst feeling right at home. On that note the wifi is very fast!

Whilst travelling around we love to make time to keep on top of our fitness and the hotel gym was perfect for our needs, great variety of equipment and floor space for yoga. The outdoor pool was perfect to chill out on the loungers and go for a dip with some scenic city views! We also had breakfast here and the variety of hot / cold food was good and the coffees were amazing! The omelette station was our favourite!

We were told they are building a bar and restaurant for the 38th floor which wasn’t ready when we were there but that will definitely be such a nice touch! Gutted we couldn’t experience that, maybe next time when we come back to Bangkok.

Location was very good, not far from shopping centres like icon Siam and central world ( about 10 min taxi ride ) and a few restaurants and cafes around the neighbourhood. It's also a 15 minute walk to Lumpini park.

Would really recommend this hotel for comfort, location, wifi and just a really lovely stay! Can’t wait to come...

Ascott Embassy Sathorn (not to be confused with another Ascott down the road) truly lives up to it’s 5-star rating. Service was excellent. Staff upon check-in reminded me the benefits of being an asr member, amenities they offer at the hotel, including the free shuttle to the BTS, pool, gym, bar and top-floor restaurant. The room was very spacious. It had a king-size bed and a sofa as well. All the amenities you need are there - toiletries, dryers, fridge, etc. I even requested an iron / board which they provided quickly. It is always kept clean and tidy especially when you return from your travels around the city, it’s always nice to sleep in a well kept bed. Had breakfast at the top floor one day and there were a lot of good choices and since it is at the top floor, very nice views! I also love the infinity pool they have. Refreshing after a sunny trip around the city. The hotel is walking distance to Silom MRT station or Sala Daeng BTS station, but they also offer a free shuttle to either Silom Complex or the BTS. The area is generally walkable with wide enough sidewalks, Lumphini Park is a 20 minute walk away. Put on sunscreen as the Bangkok sun can be harsh. There are a lot of restaurants around the hotel, the party place is in Silom area. There is a nearby park (Lumphini), and a large mall just opened right beside the park called One Bangkok. The area is dotted with massage parlors and spa. For business travelers, the business district is also nearby, but I think the other Ascott hotel can serve you better in that regard as it is nearer. Still the business district is just 10 minutes away by foot. For its price, it’s a bit steep than usual Bangkok hotels, but I guess you get the value out of it. Highly recommended, a 5/5 for me. I’m down to stay here again even if Bangkok is quite a competitive space for hotels.
