This place offers only chicken rice and nothing else. It's a very old family restaurant that is highly renowned. But, in my opinion, it is really overhyped and way overpriced. I am a local who visited this place once 10+ years ago and felt that it was the most expensive chicken rice place that was not worth it.

But after so many years and the restaurant's relocation, I felt that I should give it another try. And today's experience of mine doesn't change my opinion on this place. While the rice and the chicken are quite good, with chicken being succulent, the price is NOT right. A plate of chicken over rice costs me 80 Baht and comes in quite a small portion. Moreover, the chef-owner and another old lady seemed to have an attitude problem, which I'd rather not elaborate on. Just to give an example, I ask for chicken thigh on my rice and the chef sneaked in a big piece of chicken buttock into my plate. Horrible!

Parking on the street side is available but very limited. But the space in the restaurant is not too cramped.

In summary, I highly recommend avoiding this place. After all, there are so many good chicken rice restaurants in Hat Yai to choose from that would not cost you...

Chicken with its own flavour unlike other stalls. The taste is not saltish. The chicken meat is juicy and tender, and the skin is not very fatty. The dipping sauce is soy bean sauce whose taste is mild. Chopped chili and ginger can be added for more intense spiciness. The price is a little on the high side for standard serving. Recommend to order the cut of chicken e.g. drumstick, half chicken, chicken breast, etc. The place is a unit of shophouse. It's clean. The walls are coated lightly with silt from burning charcoal which is used to cook the soup. The owner can speak good Mandarin and friendly to customers. The peak hours is late morning and lunch, so be patient to get the seats especially if you come as a group more...

Chance upon this shop selling Chicken rice while exploring the neighbour. Apparently this is one of the famous shop in Hatyai that sells chicken rice. Order the 1-person portion which came up to 80Baht if I did not remember wrongly. As you can see, I was served the boneless thigh. The meat was delicious and tender. The tangy chilli sauce really compliment the meat well. Rice was equally good as well. Highly...

Mui Kee is one of the oldest and most famous restaurants for chicken rice dishes. The taste of chicken and rice is superb. The chicken is tender and the rice is perfectly flavored and cooked. The soup is also good. The price is quite high compared to the others. But considering it’s legendary and quality, they deserve this price. The atmosphere around the shop is so chill and you can smell the vintage aroma. Good place to visit.
