Crab Shack — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We booked for our anniversary, the restaurant said they mistakenly cancelled our booking. Luckily there were plently of empty tables. We ordered the seafood tower, the "tower" came as a single plate which we then had to ask to be put into a tower so we could have some nice photos. The food was probably the worst cooked seafood I have had in my 10y+ living in Thailand. The mussels were definitely frozen and then cooked until they were so rubbery they could bounce. Similarly with the squid. The prawns had no bite to them and were also overcooked until they were like mush. Our table was next to the open kitchen and it was obvious that the chef had no interest. There was no interaction with the guests, no asking if the food was ok and as soon as the food was served she was just sitting on her phone instead of seeing customer reaction. Service was great and the food was too. Pricing was at hotel level, I think the lobster roll was 1100 and surf and turf burger 1400 thb, both were huge. There were cheaper options such as the poke bowls and maki around 500 thb. Pint of Chang 300 thb. I would take half star off of the atmosphere just because it was hot and could use more fans (being outdoor), but it’s like that pretty much everywhere in Koh Samui and other than that I was very happy. Food is awesome, service team is very courteous and friendly, view is spectacular as it’s right near the beach, very scenic and serene. Located within a beautiful resort , you can take a buggy at the entrance and get to this bar & restaurant. Breezy and beautiful. We had ordered nachos with fresh guacamole, salsa & sour cream which was really good, The Thai green curry with jasmine rice was not so great for my Indian palate & taste buds, the chicken masaman curry was really good, The veg fried rice ice was really not good, who adds chunky tomatoes & onions without any flavours, it was really bad.
