E-Saan Krok Mai – if you judge this place only by looks, you’re doing life wrong. It might look simple from the outside – no fancy decorations, no marble tables, no golden spoons – but trust me: the real treasure here is on the plate.
The kitchen is pure magic. Authentic, bold, straight-from-the-heart E-Saan food that hits you with flavor like a flying kick of happiness. Everything is fresh, perfectly grilled, spiced with love and probably a little bit of wizardry.
Special shoutout to the grilled sticky rice! I mean, who knew that a simple ball of sticky rice could steal the whole show? Smoky, crispy on the outside, soft and heavenly inside – it’s basically the Beyoncé of all sticky rice. Order it. Love it. Dream about it. (I already do.)
The atmosphere? Relaxed, honest, and real – just the way it should be when you’re busy falling in love with grilled chicken, som tam, and sticky rice masterpieces. No tourist trap vibes here – just pure, authentic flavors that could make even the grumpiest traveler smile like they just won the lottery.
E-Saan Krok Mai is easily one of my absolute favorite places on the island. Come hungry. Stay happy. Leave planning your next visit. Five huge stars – and if I could, I’d throw in a few grilled sticky...
Read moreCame here for dinner and enjoyed most of the Isaan menus. This is some of the renowned spots for Isaan cuisine on the island. The papaya salad was good, but despite asking for higher spice level the spice here was just off, and the crunch of the papaya wasn't apparent upon consumption which means they weren't freshly cut on the spot. My other highlight to mention is their grilled sticky rice - very enjoyable and different. Atmosphere cozy and laidback although one should expect to prepare to use repellents or just to prepare oneself for the mosquitoes during their hours...

Food was good but I have had more delicious Esaan food elsewhere. However, by saying that, it wasn't bad at all. I would come back. Here goes more details...
Corn salad, we ordered mold and it came out very spicy. They fixed it though when we told them. Grilled sticky rice was quite tough. We liked chicken wings and fried pork spare rib. Papaya salad with crispy catfish I liked. Pineapple fried rice was quite big serving but too sweet for my liking. All and all, we did enjoy the meal but there was a few things that I thought it could have...
